Whirlpool extractor fan (AKR 651 IX) making a noise

My Whirlpool extractor fan (AKR 651 IX) in the hood above the cooker is making an unusual noise. It sounds like the fan is running at very high speed and makes a high pitched noise. The hood is just over 2 years old.

Any ideas on a simple fix or who is best to call on for a repair?

Thanks!

How deep do you want to get into this?It sounds like the wash pump motor bearings that are worn. You can pull the unit out flip it over and wd40 the bearings in the motor or you can replace the bearings.Try to lube them first.

try washing on hottest cycle it may be the seal in the spray pump somethimes the rinse aid can put a glaze on the seal if that doesnt work you can replace just the front part of the motor( in australia) dont know where you are.

SOURCE: INDESIT HI161IX - positioning above the cooker

if its hidden hood that pops up it just has to be flush with counter
this is so you have a clean flat service that make it look like you have extra room

if its a regular hood like old days height should be between 2 to 5 feet from stove to hood for quality air flow easy to install

Have a Neff D9610 cooker hood. Has 3 separate speed switches. Slowest speed switch does not work other ok. No noise from motor when slow switch on. Is the problem with the switch or the motor?

When on high speed the motor is running at it's normal speed.

When a slower speed is selected (mostly) there is external circuitry to reduce the current to the motor so it runs at a slower speed, though in some cases the motor could be specially wound for multiple speeds. The latter way is unlikely to be found in a cooker hood or extractor fan or other small appliance.

The fault with your appliance could be the switch or the current reducing circitry. It is only by delving inside and testing that the fault could be found.

Where are the fuses in a Victoriana Deluxe Leisure cooker? The extractor fan and light have stopped working

It would be fused to the house current most likely through a circuit breaker on your service box.

Lights have stopped working on my whirlpool extractor hood at the same time. Bulbs are ok and fan works. Model AKR 906. Please help.

first check the lamps in another device since it some times shows its ok bur actually it is not.then look for false connections and at last the holders if the lamps went out one by one.if all together then it must be the switch.

if both fan and light have quit working then you have an electrical supply problem. start with checking for thrown breakers in the breaker panel. if none are tripped then you have a broken wire or a wire no longer making a good connection. try twisting the wire nuts tighter were it wires in above it
