Question about Craftsman Garden
I have replaced the carburetor and fuel solenoid. After the mower starts there is gas coming out the muffler due to excessive gas being dumped into the intake. You can see when this begins to happen if you have the air filter off.

with switch off try crossing out the solenoid. take an old screwdriver and place it on the two metal contacts jetting out from the solenoid usually by the battery or close to the ignition. if strarter engages when this is donr replace solenoid. if not replace starter. hope this helps.

It could be your fuel shutoff solenoid is not working or is stuck from gum, varnish or rust in your carb bowl. The fuel shutoff solenoid is located on the bottom of your carburetor. To check it, have someone, or yourself if you can reach the ignition switch, turn the key to the on position and back off several times while you listen by the carb. You should hear a click each time. If not, the carb will have to be taken off and cleaned and checked. You will probably find water and/or rust in your bowl plugging up the main jet. Best to take it to a shop.
