SOURCE: Looking to find age of yamaha bike using serial number

Get the vin number off the front downtube that the steering triple tree mounts to. Call a Yamaha dealer with the vin # and they can tell the year, engine size and model of bike.

Fuji bike serial number 1CFJ9D04032 is for what model, age, etc.

The model is printed on the frame. If repainted the serial number will not likely help you, and the bike value is minimal. For more info see my tip: How to determine the year value etc of your bicycle

the patent number for the gears has been around for a very very long time so that number is useless
you have to supply a model or serial number
how much is it worth---only as much as someone is prepared to pay for it

I have a Ross Mt. Hood Hi Tech bike serial # RT6B0604 Would like to know what year it is

Serial number is often not helpful, but if you go to BikePedia and put in the brand and model you can browse through the results until you find the color scheme and equipment that matches your bike.
I would note that model year is usually only important when a buyer wants to know that info. Even then mechanical condition and appearance is far more important than age.

What year was serial number D00300254 made?

Each bike manufacturer has their own unique serial numbers (there isn't a industry standard like automotive VINs) so just throwing up the serial number is not verbose enough, the model would be helpful and you would probably need to contact the manufacturer for more details.

If you are just looking an age of the bike, you can post a detailed description and someone can give you a pretty good estimate based on the parts and the model.

Many manufacturers subcontract their bicycle manufacturing to large factories in China, India and Taiwan and these subcontractors are the ones creating the serial numbers.

Your local bike shop is the best place to get an estimate on the value of your bike and/or if there are parts that can be interchanged with your current setup.
