I have a couple questions for clarification:

What happens when you press the menu button a second time?
What happens if you try to use the arrow keys on the remote, or the +/- buttons on the tv after you press the menu button?
Is there a 'Program' button on the tv or your remote?

Try leaving the tv unplugged for at least 4 hours to do a master reset. I do believe any reset would help you. This is very strange. There might be another menu under a settings button or something. It's really to bad you don't have the origional remote.
    I would try a reset.

I would suggest buying a remote. Even a universal if necessary. If you have tried unplugging the tv overnight and it still exists, than a remote may be your only other choice.

My tv's channels are only up to ch 35, and we have cable tv connection. I cant utilize my cable connection cause my tv's only programmed up to 35. do we have a way to program it to go up to more than 35?...

I assume you have analog cable TV service and no cable box. Press MENU button on your TV remote. Go over to CHANNEL SETUP. There are four arrow buttons and a button in the middle of the arrow buttons on the TV remote control. Use these arrow buttons to go up, down, left and right. Use the button in the center to select. TV On-screen menu has Video, then Audio, then Channel Setup.

Cable can be set to ON or OFF, you want to set it ON to get cable channels.
Go down to AUTO PROGRAM and select it, press button in the center of arrow keys.
A short delay while available channels are searched so be patient. After Auto Program finishes, press MENU to exit. You can perform Auto Program whenever required.

You can also add or skip channels manually. You will discover more options in the TVs menus.

you can add or erase channels manually.

To add channels automatically:

1. Press MENU, then press "left arrow" or "right arrow" button to display the SETUP menu.

selection is highlighted.

3. Press "left arrow" or "right arrow" button to highlight either

5. Press "left arrow" or "right arrow" button to start channel programming. The TV will automatically

cycle through all the TV or Cable channels (depending on which you

selected), and store all active channels in the channel memory.

ok i am typeing this right out of the book/
operating your tv: Once you have connected your tv to an anntenna or cable system, plugged the tv in, and put batteries in the remote, you are ready to use the tv. the first thing you should do is program your tv so it memorizes all of available analog& didgital channels.PROGRAMING YOUR TVS CHANNEL MEMORY: your tvs memory determines the channels thet are available using the "up ch down" buttons. if a channel is not in memory . you can tune to it with the numbeer buttons, but not with the up and down buttons . follow these steps to program your tvs memory:
1) Preset
press the MENU button twice to enter preset menu

To memorize all available analog and didgital channels
press the ch down button to highlight FULL SCAN then press VOL.+ to begin channel scaning, the channel scanning starting with analog channels then to didgital channels. after your tv finishes memorizing the channels, it will return to normal tv viewing. I hope that this fixes your problem thats just the main section on the programing part so if you need further info just ask!
