It can also be the YMain board or the back light inverter board or a capacitor or fuse has blown on the power supply board. Which you usually lose sound before you lose both sound and picture. Try to hard reset is for about 4-6 hours by completely unplugging it.
i believe white line is caused by bad or dirty connection on upper buffer which is either connected to ymain pcb or built onto pcb.color distortions can be caused by bad ymain pcb or x pcb.hope this helps.
Your tv contains protection circuitry that would shut down the tv if the ymain was out. If the ymain had blown, you'd have no sound and just a flashing standby light. My gut tells me you need to replace the Power Supply Board (PSB). I've seen this before and after spending too much money trying to diagnose a ymain failure, I was surprised to learn that when you have sound but no picture, the psb is a gonner. Try ebay, shopjimmy.com or discount-merchant.com for a replacement.
Anytime you replace the Ymain, it's recommended that you replace both Y upper and lower buffer boards also. Most likely you've damaged the Y again, so I would re-order all 3. In thte future unplug the P/S plug to the Y section and leave it discharge for about an hour before plugging it back in.
You need to replace the Ymain and the buffers. This is a very common problem with this set, and its magnavox and samsung counterparts. Look throught the other solved postings for a detailed description of how to dismantle and replace. Plan on spending at least $200 on this repair. Likely a bit more.
The Ymain Board is out if you have the back of the tv exposed disconnect the ymain board and then plug in the tv set and turn it on. the light should remain green and no longer flash. If this happens the Y main and upper and lower buffer boards should be replaced
You need to replace the top and bottom y buffers when you replace the Ymain. If not, it will just go back out. If you have space, wire a 12 volt mini cpu fan near the left of the Ymain and the buffers, should last alot longer that way.
I had the same problem. Luckilly I had an extended warranty. Repair tech said it blew three main boards inside and to fix it out of pocket would have been more than the screen was worth. Hope this helps.
A tech will need to come out. When the tech do come out have him unplug the Y main and see if the led goes solid greem if it does have them replace the Ymain and the Y upper/lower boards. Most likely that will be the problem.
