How do i get my printer to scan????

Do you have the full-featured software installed? (This software must be installed before connecting the USB cable to the computer) Download it here:
If you use a USB hub or a print server, try connecting directly to the computer. The scanner needs bi-directional communication with the computer to work. Try a new USB cable and a different port. (Even if the printer works, the scanner can lose communication.)

I hope this helps.

Hello, My Kodak 5300 acts as if it accepts a scan, it displays "scanning", but scanning never occurs. The copy function works fine.

connect ur computer and printer via usb cablen.scanning requires a place to scan and save the document. open home center on desktop and scan from there. u will be able to scan whatever u want. call kodak@ 1800 421 6699 for further directions.

Installed with enclosed disc

Looking at the setup guide, it does indeed tell you to not connect the usb cable until prompted by the software. It is Step 7.

Here a link to the setup guide:

Kodak 5100 AIO Setup

Kodak Support has step-by-step instructions for uninstalling and reinstalling the software. Just make sure you remove the USB cable from the computer and reboot before you reinstall.

Here is the support page to begin on:

Comment back to let me know how it went.

Kodak AIO Easyshare 5300 scanning problem

Could be USB connection if you have another cable try it. Try connecting to different USB ports on your PC. If you have a Powerd USB hub lying around try connecting the printer to the PC through that.

Also try disconnecting all USB devices including the printer. Reboot your PC. Connect only the printer and try and scan.

Some times multiple USB devices dont work when they are both connected to the same PC.

Hope this helps!

Problem Installing 5100 printer

During the install, dont connect the printer when it tells you to. close the window that askes you to connect the usb cable to the printer and PC. The install should finish.

Leave the printer disconected.

Reboot the PC. If easyshare was installed you have to set it up.. If you did not select Web Install during the install then, after reboot and easyshare setup, open the Home Center software. There should be a message saying there are software updates availible. If not click the [?] on the top right to open the side pannel and click the bottom link that says check for updates. Run and install the updates. after its done then connect the printer.

If you did not need updates then try uninstalling and downloading the software directly from (link near bottom of this message)

If the printer still is not detected then try another USB port on your PC .. the PC ports on the back of the PC that are directly connected to the motherboard are the best. You can also try a new usb cable, or hook up a powerd USB hub between the printer and the PC. Also try unhooking all other USB devices (not printer and keyboard) then connect the printer.

If you could not get the updates through the home center you can get them at (link bellow)

I hope this helps. If you still have issues respond to this with any changes or what happened when you tried each step.

Good luck!
