Question about Zebra GK420 Thermal Printer

1 Answer

Changes from 1 to 3 pages for Excel Print Area

We use both Zebra 500 ZPL abd GK240 label printers to print barcode labels 4 x 1.5 inch. These are printed from an Excel template which has the print area for 3 cells set to 1 page. Never had a problem with the 500 ZPL, but the GK240 will print 3 labels, one for each cell rather than 3 lines per label. If you open the Excel template, set it to display in print mode, then click print, it will show 1 Page [the print area] when the default HP laser is selected. But change the printer to rge Zebra and the worksheet view changes from 1 to 3 pages, one per cell. At one point a technician stumbled on how to correct this, but that information has vanished. Really need to get this addressed ASAP.

Using MS Access, I am printing labels to a Zebra 110XiIII printer. The output truncates the label to 2" instead of the 3.5" I have the report page settings saved as. I have been through the setup...

First check printer. Change setting "Print Width" to maximum width, save. Switch off. Hold down pause key while switching on (untill all but power light turns off). the subsequent prints should print across the full width. If this is OK fault is with label format.

If you are using windows printer driver check settings there this can over ride printer settings. If using ZPL the problem is most likely in the label format.

Zebra 105SE printer will print text and images just fine, but will not print bar codes from any software including Bartender or TechnoRiverStudio. If i export the label as an image I can print it just...

Bartender is a pretty good label software package - strange that you're having problems with a barcode. Are you by any chance trying to print a 2D barcode such as Datamatrix ? If that's true, then the problem is that the datamatrix barcode is not a resident barcode in the firmware version of that printer which is an older model. There should be a choice in bartender, in the properties of the barcode field that allows you to send the barcode as an image or graphic. The barcode will then print.

If you're trying to print a linear barcode (C39 or C128 or UPC for example) and it they won't print with the steps you have taken, then something is definetly wrong. Another option would be to take your label format and print-to-file instead of print-to-printer. There should be an option on the print screen for this. By then opening the file, the ZPL (Zebra's programming language) can then be examined to see exactly what is being sent to the printer.

Hope this helps !

Currently have a TLP2742 duplicator which prints barcode and text. Need to alter this to just print the text. how do i do it?

Do you know if you are using a label software program to design the label or just ZPL (which is Zebra Programming Language) code direct to the printer? If it is software, then you can open that label design software file and remove the barcode. If it is ZPL, then you need to remove it from the code. I can help with this if you can email me the code.

are they the same barcode type?
what is the font set at? using Arial or other fonts can make the software send a more complicated image. use the Zebra Triuverate font. this keeps it simple. also, do a print out of the settings on each printer and compare them line by line. change the settings to match the printer that is printing correctly.

Yasemin, the most practical solution is to design your label on a software like a label matrix or zebra designer and print to a file and have the ZPL codes. Roberto Martinez Mexico bartech9@yahoo.com.mx

Your printing a 3 accross label, i think your ZPL command is wrong u must define the X and Y Coordinates of each field.
This is a sample of a ZPL command that i'd wrote. Im using a 1.5 x 1 inch. label
