SOURCE: how to adjust anti scald valve on american standard shower faucet

Remove the handle, and all the trim rings, and the cartridge cover. take a flat head screwdriver and use it to lift
up the red ring behind everything, this is the hot limit safety stop,
this just stops the handle from turning to full hot.

Once you have the red ring lifted up, notice the numbers and the pointer
on the ring, numbers are on the fixture,

O= hottest 7=cold

See what the ring pointer is set to now, and move it half, before you put this back together, just set the handle on the unit and run the water to see if its to hot or not enough. Once you have found what is the best setting, then replace all covers and trim, handle.

The water heater has nothing to do with it. You need a shower control valve that won't let the water pressure change when the toilet is flushed. Moen makes just such a valve called a pressure balancing valve. Moen L82683 Positemp Tub/Shower Valve. http://www.moen.com

TR 019 STEAM SHOWER leaking water from every jet, body jet , foot massage, shower head, top shower head when in off position

Tr019 is a type of control panel that operates the electrical features in a steam shower cabin, usually found in Chinese products. The issue you have is with the valve, in particular the on/off valve. These can be replaced individually or as a complete new valve . This company in uk sell them http:// www.steamshowerparts.co.uk

No hot water in shower but have hot water in sink

Is your shower valve a single handle. If so I would reccomend you change cartridge. To do this shut off water to valve or house. Remove center cover on valve handle, most of these are just friction fit so gently pry off with knife point or small screwdriver. Remove handle by pulling straight out, then remove chrome cover that fits around outside of valve. Ther is a small copper retaing clip that holds valve in place. It should have a small hole in tab that is on top of valve. Grasp this with pliers and pull up to remove. Then remove cartridge by pulling on cartridge stem. If it's doesn't come out you can get a moen cartridge puller at hardware store. Remove old cartridge, install new one and reinstall retaing clip. Reinstall chrome cover and handle.Turn water back on and try shower valve to see that cold is on the right side. If it's not remove handle and turn center stem 180 degrees. This will change cold side to right. Put handle back on with cover and you sould be done. Hope this helps. Thanks

When installing a shower temperature control valve should the cartridge be removed before soldering to copper pipes

Yes you need to remove the valve befor you solder the copper pipes on it. If you do not remove the valve you will melt it to the valve body and then it will not be useable.

Start by turning the water off to the whole house. Open the tiled wall or if there is access behind the old valve open that wall instead. With a tubing cutter cut the hot and cold water lines as well as the shower riser. Remove any clips that are securing the valve to the wooden studs. Mount the new valve in the same area as the old. Make sure that the valve is not upside down arrows on the brass body will indicate flow direction for the tub spout. Connect the water supply lines to the new valve by means of soldering or mechanical joint. Connect the existing shower riser by means of soldering or mecnaical joint. Turn the water on and test for leaks.

We have two 16 year old shower faucets (house was built in 1993 by Del Webb). Can't tell what model they are. We are guessing they are Moen Legend 3175 (one handle). Problem seems to be pressure balancing...

This is a common problem with this type of shower mixer valve. They are not very good at regulating with pressure change. Your options are somewhat limited to not flushing the toilet or using any other taps when in use, repalce the mixer valve for a modern ceramic unit or installing a 2 vane hot & cold shower pump.

Not able to pull up the shower valve

The valve is in upside down. Sounds like the shower head runs all the time and thats what fills the tub? The valve needs to be flipped OR the diverter in the valve needs to be switched to the other side of the valve. If this is a one handled valve it is installed upside down. UP is indicated on the valve.

The valve can be reused just turned over.
