What exposure mode(s)? What focus mode(s)?

Set the camera to Manual exposure (turn the mode dial to "M") and turn off the autofocus (switch the lever on the front from "AF" to "M"). Does the camera take a picture now? Don't worry about getting a proper exposure or focus. We're just trying to see whether the camera takes a picture at all.

On off mode light blink and battery discharge in d 90 nikon

Nikon is on Wilshire in Los Angeles do not try to fix your D90 by yourself it is a complicated computer they fix it for free if it is under warranty and they send it back to your house when repaired.
PS it cost more when you take it elsewhere small repair shops send it to Nikon too. Good luck.

Nikon d60 will not take picture

The Nikon D-90 users manual says on page 256 that the ERR message indicates a camera malfunction and that it can be cleared by releasing the shutter.

I've found on my D-90 that the only way I can get the shutter to release is my turning the camera off. When I turn it back on the ERR message is gone and the camera functions as it should.

Occasionally, I have had to remove and reinstall the battery to make the camera turn off but this happens only rarely.

The users manual says if the condition occurs frequently or persists that you should contact a Nikon authorized repair center. I suggest that you contact Nikon tech support at www.nikon.com to see what they suggest. I think this information would apply to the D-60 as well.

Camera won't take pictures

On page 256 of the D-90 users manual it says that ERR indicates a camera malfunction that can be cleared by releasing the shutter. On my D-90 when this occurs, I have to turn the camera off to make the shutter release. Sometimes, but rarely, I have to remove and reinstall the battery to get the shutter to release.

The manual also says that if this error occurs frequently or persists to contact n authorized Nikon service center. I suggest that you contact Nikon tech support at www.nikon,com before you contact a service center to see what tech support advises. I have heard of people resolving this problem by upgrading the firmware (camera software). Nikon tech support can tell you if this will help.

This information works for my D-90 and could work for your D-40

I get an err message after i take a picture. i notice this happens when the over/under exposure indicator in the viewfinder is blinking before i take the picture. the err message only goes away if i remove...

I've also got a D90- nice camera. I only get the err message when the lens is not seated correctly or the f-stop ring is not set to the max. If you check the settings and assembly correctly and they seem OK, then the contacts may be dirty or faulty. If the indicator is blinking pre-shutter release, that may indicate the same issues. If you have another lense to try, that may be a good indicator of bad contacts or issues in the lense.

How to use in Nikon d90 manual setting in best photograph for marriage purpose

Based on this question, I would recommend that you use the Nikon D-90 automatic (green) setting. This is basically a point and shoot setting for inexperienced camera users which is what your question indicates.

I would not attempt to shoot manual pictures on a critical event such as a wedding without practicing a lot with the camera. The D-90 is an excellent camera with many, many incredible features but it has a long learning curve.

Using the automatic mode won't guarantee excellent pictures but it should guarantee some usable ones.

Blinking black in play mode!!!! PLEASEEEEE HELLLPP

Hello,

If this is the same as my Nikon this is the overexposed highlight display option.
This shows areas of the photograph that are overexposed slightly.

On my Nikon I use the up and down arrows on the back to cycle the LCD display options.
Stop when you get a display that does not flash.

Blinking red timer light

The blinking red timer means that the date isn't set on your camera. Go to the set up screen and set the date. I'm not sure why you wouldn't be able to take pictures, though...
