Make sure the volume for your microphone is turned on. Here's how:
Click the 'Start' menu in your taskbar, and highlight 'Settings.'
Select 'Control Panel.'
Locate 'Sounds and Audio Devices' in the Control Panel, and double-click the icon.
Open the 'Volume' tab, and click 'Advanced...' in the 'Device volume' section.
Look for 'Microphone' in the 'Volume Control' box that opens,
and make sure your microphone is enabled and the volume is high enough.
Close the 'Volume Control' box, and then click 'OK.'
If you're using an external microphone, and the volume is set properly,
check that the device is securely connected to your computer.
And if that doesn't solve the problem, make sure your microphone of
choice is selected in the 'Output - speakers or headset' drop-down menu
in the 'Audio' section of your Google Talk Settings.
Mic issues can be tricky. Knowing what operating system you are using would help diagnose the issue.
First the simple things. Make sure your mic is plugged into the correct jack. It should be red. Second, you need to open your sound mixer and make sure your mic is not muted or the volume turned all the way down. Either of these will cause you not to be heard.
You can also open the sound settings in your control panel, it is the icon that looks like a speaker if you are using Vista/7. Under the recording tab, make sure you see your mic/headphones/etc (what ever you are using as a mic) in the list. Make sure it has a green check mark on it indicating it is the default device. You can then double click it and select the levels tab to ensure your volume is not all the way down on the mic. You can also click on the listen tab. Place a check in the listen to this device box and click apply. You should now be able to hear your own voice as you speak into the mic over your speakers. It gives you a way to troubleshoot the mic functions. Once you can hear your voice, remove the check and click apply again to return to normal.
Make sure you can hear your voice without Google Talk. It most likely is not the application causing your problem. If, however, your mic works on everything but Google Talk, then we need to do more troubleshooting. Let me know if this resolves your issue.
i think you're right. someone did that with my aim account ONCE and it shut me down. so just make sure you have your list backed up, run your anti-virus, and reinstall the messenging program. good luck
hope this helps ;-)
Change skype sound setting. TO do that : Take Tools from the menu bar. Then select options. When a new window opens choose audio Setting. Then below microphone volume untick - "Automatically adjust microphone setting". Then drag the volume to maximum.
