Yes, motors for sewing machines are very easy to replace with suitable replacements. They are quite common in other industries and the specs are pretty much identical. Happily a sewing machine motor is rather easy to replace compared to most other assemblies on it. I will always urge you to take it to your locally certified Bernina dealer or contact one online, make sure to confirm your model and serial number and a replacement can be sent out to you. Sergers are a bit tricky in taking the covers off and ensuring minimal damage to the plastic so I would recommend you take it to a service tech first before trying yourself.

Slacken the stop motion as if to wind a bobbin and press on the foot control, if the motor runs really fast then you have either thread stuck in the bobbin case area or you may need to oil the machine
