Dish menu but no picture or sound

Try holding the power button in on the receiver until the picture goes away then turn it aloose it will reboot and your sound will usually come back. If you had rather and can get to it unplugging it from the electric outlet, the receiver, does the same thing.

Same- get audit, no picture. HELP!!

It has to be something wrong with either the connection from the DVD video cable (yellow if your using composite av cables... green, blue and red if your using HDMI cables, or black with a round connector with little pins inside if using S-video), check on both the back of the DVD player where the cable comes out, and also on the back of either the TV or the receiver unit where the Video cable connects. If your cable goes from DVD --> Receiver --> TV, check both cables inbetween to ensure that they are tightly connected. Turn on your system as if your trying to watch a DVD, and when you hear the sound, wiggle the cables and see if you get a picture (having someone else wiggle and you watch or vice versa will be the easiest). If nothing comes up, then perhaps a cable is bad. Try replacing the cables with new ones, try the system now. If the cables didnt solve the problem, again, repeat the process of starting the DVD and then wiggling the cables. If still no picture, it might be internal issues with the connectors themselves. If your handy, you can try to take apart the devices and trouble shoot... but I would suggest calling Bose (or the companies that make your TV and DVD players) and see what steps they suggest you take.

Good luck!

I can't get any sound from it.. just great visual...what can I do?

Yellow plugs and jacks are the Video and that works. Red and White are the RCA sound wires from the DVD to TV.

OR

Your sound goes from the DVD to TV via a Fiber Optic or Fire Wire.

OR

You use Ch 3 on the TV and watch the DVD through a TV Tuner and use the TV Antenna Cable between the DVD and TV.

If that didn't help, let me know for more things to check like Audio settings on the TV.

No Picture on HDMI using Philips DVP5992.

You can try out by connecting the CVBS (Yello) out from player to TV and connect HDMI out from Player to TV. Goto CVBS input on Sony TV. Select set up and you should get the HDMI Video options availble. Try to change the resulution and check for Video on HDMI source.
Which disc you were playing PAL or NTSC? PAL should work for Europe.

Coby DVD player set up

Brenna,
Here are some things to remember when messing with cables TO and FROM electronic audio/visual
devices. YELLOW connectors are for what you SEE on the screen of your TV or other viewing device.
The RED/WHITE connectors are for what your ears will hear, LEFT/RIGHT in stereo or mono.
Now all you need to do is connect the YELLOW output jack of your Coby to the YELLOW video
input jack on TV. You must remember forever and ever that the YELLOW jacks and plugs never
contain or transmit or move TV channels or CABLE channels or DISH channels. The YELLOW cable
which has plugs at both ends goes to jacks (output to input) and carries/transmits BASEBAND VIDEO signals only. Now all you need to do is make the TV stop listening to it's antenna in, and to
start listening to the YELLOW/RED/WHITE jacks on the back of the TV. You will need find out how
to put TV into MONITOR mode, or AUX mode, or VIDEO INPUT 1. Basically just match colors and
OUTPUTS to INPUTS. Hope this helps you out.

Black square (parental Control??)

You'll have to go into the menu setting of the VCR and turn the controls off, also you can try completely unplugging the VCR and then plugging it back in again to see if it goes away.
