try disconnecting the gear cable on the engine top which comes from the front remote lever , then see if you can select gears normally ! if not then check inside the remote box ! if yes then check the gear cable from engine to the gearbox ! and if thats ok then check the sterndrive assy !

Remove the relay case and gently file the points until clean with a miniture file set from Radio Shack, and spray the points with electronic cleaning spray also available from the same location, try this if new relay won't work.

The trimmer head stopped turning What could be wrong

here is web site for parts

http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=husqvarna&mn=225+L+%281994-06%29

almost sounds like the driving drum engagement end has rounded off or the end of drive shaft broke off at either end , or the gear head end is broken / damaged

have a look at the splines on the output shaft on the gear head , check the plate that engages those splines too

physicaly take off the tube / shaft assy from power head and check drum and clutch rotating , check drive shaft end (s)

if ok refit tube / shaft assy ( make sure engaged properly)
tighten mount bolts - remove gear head from end of shaft, start motor and run see if shaft turns ok with some rev s if so
problem is in the gear head

check out website good site

cheers paul hope it helps

Replacing gears

you have to disassemble the tool completely. Remove chuck, remove battery, remove all screws holding body parts together, remove one side of body. Now you can see motor and gear box. Pull out both of them and twist gearbox a bit (just few degrees or millimeters) if it goes, then just pull gear away from the motor. Be carefull, some gear parts may drop of, so hold gearbox down and motor up. Juraj

My K45SS is leaking some kind of oil or grease from the part of the mixer above where the mixer part attaches. It otherwise seems to be functioning fine.

its gear oil from the gear box that the motor turns to make the beaters turn, you need to replace the seals or keep adding food grade oil before you dry out the gearbox and ruin it

My washer is not spinning all the water out. for the most part the water is gone but the clothes are soaken wet still... why

Hi

I am assuming you have a Whirpool top loader machine.

If so, a common item on these is the motor coupling which wears out or breaks. The coupling joins the motor to your gearbox, which in turn spins the drum. The couplings are two plastic tripod shape pieces which sit on the shaft of the motor and gearbox. These are joined together on a rubber wheel with 6 holes. The plastic pieces tend to wear out or designed to break if the load is excessive, so that you do not damage the motor or the gear box.

In most cases the couplings are perishable items and need replacement. Unless you are unlucky and something has happened to your gearbox.

Good Luck.

Whirlpool toploader gearbox/clutch removal

Last Night I took the machine apart to find clutch/brake assy ok gearbox was also ok then I noticed shaft coupling was different than new part I had in stock, new part made totally of nylon, old part fitted to machine has steel insert built into nylon. this was not fully located onto motor shaft and the first 1/4" of motor shaft had been stripped back to round ( no flat faces) also inside the steel lined bore of the nylon coupling had been worn to round.I replaced with new coupling of nylon and ensured both nylon parts fully pushed home onto motor shaft and gearbox shaft with any freeplay / gap being allowed in the rubber drive link. This has worked for now but expect trouble in future with worn motor shaft.

Selespeed gearbox

Check that you have oil in the gearbox and that the drive shfts are securely fitted in the box. If all this is ok, then a reconditiond, second hand or new replacement box is the order of the day. Before you buy another box, when the box is off the engine, dismantle the clutch and inspect it. It may be the preasure plate is breaking up. Anyway it is only another ten minutes on the job. If you find wear in the clutch, repace it at the same time as you change the box. Sorry for the bad news.

Dropped Sony Ciber-shot when lense was extended. Will not fully extend or retract now. How do I remove lense assembly to reset position.

sir,
open your camera, beside the cam part u can see the small gearbox, un screw this part and disconnect it from the base, then slowly turn the lense assy to both side carefully, dont give force. if the lense assy becom loose, fix the gear unit give a 3volt to the motor bring the cam to retracted position, then fix whole unit, it will work properly

Replace oster kitchen center base drive part

I'am the guy who posted the comment I found out how to do this.
There are 2 possible solutions the 2nd is not pretty, hope the first works for you it didn't for me.

1- The motor must be lock up, by placing a thin screwdriver through the holes in the base into the fan down into the motor, holding the screwdriver, remove the square drive from the top.The part you are trying to remove actually is screwed into a gear in the gear box, you will need a spanner wrench,(sometimes a strong pair of long nose pliers will work, engage the spanner holes, hold the screwdriver ,and try to unsrew it, you may need someone to hold the screwdriver, because it takes a lot of force to loosen it.These are regular threads, and unscew counter clockwise.

2- if #1 doesn't work-this will- but its not so pretty. The motor assembly attached to the gear box will have to be removed,it will come out as one piece
Remove the bottom plate, unplug the white wire from the speed control, and the blue- white wire from the board, also you will have to remove one of the brushes with the white -blk lead.
Now you will have to actually break off of the top plastic(bakelite)by whatever means you dream up (I actually used a small wood chisel to score a line, and crack it) once its cracked, it breaks apart easily.Once thats done turn it over and remove the four screws holding the gear box to the housing you will now be able to remove the gear-box motor assembly.
Remove the 3 screws from the top of the gear box pry the box open, remove the gear with the piece that needs to be replaced, now you need to get the piece unscrewed from the gear.I did this by locking the nurled end into a vise, and very carefully grabing the gear teeth with large channel locks(if you think of a better way thats great)it work for me,but I was very concerned about the gear teeth, you can't slip.
Try the new piece to make sure it sets all the way down to the bottom of the gear(it must or your head will be to high ,and won't lock down)if all is well, make sure everything is greased, and start re-assembly, the new coupler ,and the square drive will be the last 2 pieces assembled from the top, once again locking the motor with a small screwdriver.
