You can connect the TV to the computer using the HDMI cable. All the latest Sony VAIO Notebook computers are shipped with a HDMI input port.
1. Once you have connected the TV and powered it ON verify if the TV is detected in the computer in the device manager.
2. Press the Windowds logo key+R letter key together to open the Run window.
3. Then, type the command "devmgmt.msc" without quotes to open the device manager window.
4. Now, locate the monitors option and check if two PnP monitors are listed.
5. If yes, then close the device manager window and press the Fn+F7 keys to toggle the computer screen from computer to your TV.
This will display the video to your TV.
To enable sound output through your TV, follow the steps provided below.

2. Click on Sound to open the sound properties window.

Connected PC to LG with HDMI. Wonderful pic but NO sound. PC HDMI audio test works great and sound is clear thru TV. When movie is played from PC to TV there is no sound.

How do you get HDMI out to tv, through a graphics card? Is Is it HDMI direct out of the card or DVI adaptor? I believe you will get a ping even if the volume is turned down and when playing a movie you would have volume control throuh the DVD player, the computer and the tv. Make sure your volume is turned up on dvd player and right click on your speaker icon in taskbar, at lower right of screen and make sure that volume is up. When you do the ping are you checking a "HD" audio driver. Look in 'device manager" in "sound audio and game controllers" and right click on "HD" devices and make sure they are enabled. Let me know what happens. When you look at devices in device manager you also may see a warning. If so click on the symbol, ? ,!, or triangle and follow proceedure.

When i connected hdmi cable from dell lap to panasonic viera lcd tv only picture is comming no sound comming why plz advice me.

Check your graphics card control panel in the TV out setting and look for a setting to allow sound to be passed trough the HDMI cable.
You could also try changing your default sound output. 1. Right click on the speaker icon in your taskbar 2. Select 'Playback Devices' 3. In the playback tab it will show you devices that are capable of putting out sound from your laptop 4. Look for a device that will output sound from the HDMI port. 5. Click on the device then click the 'set Default' button. Sound should then be going trough the HDMI cable to your TV.

Go to "Sound" from Control Panel, or from right-click on the Desktop and then choose "Personalize" from the menu. Click "Playback" at the 'Sound' app, you should see "Speakers/Headphones" and "HDMI" codecs.
If "HDMI" is there, simply click on it and click "Set Default"
If you don't see "HDMI" right click on "Sound" and click on 'Show Disabled Devices" -- "HDMI" should appear. If "HDMI" is not there, you need to install the HDMI sound driver. HDMI has its own audio driver separate from the audio system of the computer ( Sigmatel, IDT, or Realtek ) . It is incorporated into the graphics card's driver, so first make sure you have the newest version of your graphics card driver. On models with Intel graphics the HDMI audio driver will appear in the Device Manager as "Audio device on high definition audio bus".

Hope this helps.

No sound when using HDMI cable

There a few options you can check: first of all, try to hook an audio cable to the TV. Some laptops do not support hdmi as audio output.
also, I would try to check if your hdmi audio device is set in your audio controls. Appaarently, in most cases the laptop speakers are playing by default, which means you will have to set the hdmi audio yourself. Right click on the volume control icon in your desktop (minimized icons, to your right), then go to playback devices (depends on your windows of course), then check if the hdmi is active or not.
