Glass on inside face has clouded. How can i get at it?

It seems almost impossible to get to the inside face of the glass which has become completely covered in what can only be described as blotches. How can I get inside the printer to clean it?

i'd be remiss in suggesting that this is that simple. The service manual shows a seven step process for removing that glass. You sure you want to mess with that?

NOTE: The underneath side of the scanner glass cannot be cleaned on any product. This is unlikely to be necessary and should only be done by an authorized service provider.

SOURCE: HP 6110 scanner glass is cloudy

Here is how, but it seems a lot of work.

- Remove all the torx-screws
- Remove the little glass on the left side
- Remove the Control Panel Cover (lifted it a little with a screwdriver and released two latches)
- Remove the Control Panel itself (another two latches&move to the left)
- The whole top of the 6110 is attached to the bottom with 4 latches. I remove that, turn it around and clean the glass.

Note: The cables between 6110-bottom and control panel/feeding unit are long enough to set those things aside.

The glass became dirty in the inside face I want to clean the glass from the inner side how to disassemble the unit in order to get access to the glass

Of course don't do this if you can avoid it, but I found it somewhat simple (on my 3rd or 4th try). For some reason my scanner came from the factory with a dirty inside glass, and even though it didn't seem to affect the scanning, it bugged me enough to want to clean it. So here's what I did ...

1) lock the lamp (switch on the bottom)

2) open the lid and remove the 2 screws - one left, one right.
(The one in the middle can stay in.)

3) Here's the tricky part - the lid and glass and framing around the glass can slide out toward the back (or top ... toward the screws). Only go out an inch or two.

4) Lift the lid from the front - glass and all and try not to separate the lid from the flat wire attachment. This is designed to come out, so it's okay if it does - it's just hard to get back in!

5) clean the glass. It is glass, so I used isopropol alcohol. Clean with a lent free cloth and make sure all the streaks are gone.

6-9) reverse steps 4 through 1 to reassemble.

10) clean the top surface same as step 5 (prior to plugging it back in of course).

I was afraid I may have been too ******* it when I had to re-insert the wire (mine came out during step 4), but it seems to be working. Hope so because this is a great little scanner. ;)

Hope this helps.

When using the feeder on our Canon D1120 at the office, it creates streaks on the copied paper. We have tried cleaning the rollers numerous times, but nothing seems to work. If we just place the paper on...

This is caused by dirt/debris stuck to your ADF scanner glass. When you use the feeder on these type of machines what happens is that your documents are fed over a strip of glass when they are scanned. So anything stuck to the glass is scanned as a solid "line". You just need to locate and clean the strip glass. It will be located 1 of 2 places on your machine. The first location would be just to the left of the larger main glass. Just look for a strip of glass about an inch wide running from the front towards the back. The other location is harder to find as it would be located inside of the feeder assembly. Sometimes you have to open the feeder unit and look for the glass strip inside. But most machines it is located just to the left or right of the large main glass. Since your copies are fine when you use the main glass then be assured that the strip glass is what is causing this problem.

On a scanned document there is a line down the right hand side as if there is a mark on the paper. This is not the case and is only showing on the scanned document. How do I rectify this?

This line is being caused by something stuck to your scanner glass. It simply needs to be cleaned. The scanner glass is going to be located in 1 of 2 places. Most common is location is just to the left side of the large scanner glass. So lift up your document feeder and look at the large glass where you may sometimes place an original to be scanned or copied. Now look just to the left of that glass. Do you see a much thinner "strip" of glass? If so then clean this strip glass with a soft cloth and a bit of glass cleaner or water. If there is no strip glass located here then it will be located inside of the feeder area where you documents are fed in to be scanned. These feeder units usually just pop open. If your documents go in face up the the strip glass will be on the upper portion. More common is the face down feeding which means the glass will be on the bottom. Sometimes a flashlight is handy here. Just open up the feeder unit and look for a thin strip of glass that runs from the front towards the back. It is about 1 inch wide. Once you locate it just clean it as mentioned above. Close everything back up and give it a try.
Eccentially what is happening here is that something has gotten stuck to the glass and since when scanning, the documents are "dragged" past this glass, anything that is stuck or stationary on the glass is read as a solid line.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Why does my HP 1500 prints a test page every time I begin touse it???

HI
As soon as the printer prints the test page or alignment page place it on the scanner glass (Place the printed side down) before that Examine the scanner glass and white scan backing. Clean the scanner glass and scan backing if they are not clean. To clean the scanner glass and scan backing, use a soft cloth towel slightly dampened with clean water.
After That press scan on the printer button panel it will resolve your issue.
Try to double check it by turning it off and turning the printer back on after 2 minute's. If still the problem exists call HP Total Care 800 - 474 - 6836 if you are from US/Canada.
) Lift the lid of the product.
2) Place the top of alignment page face down in the right front corner of the glass.
3) Place the alignment page face down
4) Close the lid.
5) Press the Start Scan button.
6) The Power button light will blink during the alignment process.
7) After the Power button light stops blinking, alignment is complete.
