SOURCE: Zoom X6 wireless router

Hi, With or without the firmware update, the wireless should work and be indicated with the WLAN led. Have you done an update? Have you tried a hard reset? Most routers would require a reset to default after a firmware update. Pls be reminded that when you do a hard reset, all configuration would be lost, better log them down or do a backup. Alternately, you can check your router's web based configuration manager, apparently, there is an enable/disable feature/selection for the WLAN. Verify that is set to enable. Hope this be of help/idea. Post back how things turned out or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.

SOURCE: Connection - Zoom Wireless-G AP+4, model 4401

1. connect your router to your laptop/pc with ethernet cable
2. it should automatically connect you to the internet under vista
3. now open a web browser (IE, fireforx or opera) and type in the address bar (it will bring up the firmware software of your router)
4. in the first interface click setup wizard from the left
5. click next, select router/AP
6. click next, set your time
7. click next, select DHCP client as WAN access type
8. click next, do not change this and keep the default (default is Bandp 2.4ghz(B+G), WO: AP, Network type: Insfrustructure, SSID: Zoom, channel: 11)
9. click next, select WAP2(AES) as encryption, passphrase as pre-shared key, type a passphrase/password (write down these important information, u will need it later), click finished
10. open network and sharing centre (in vista), from the left select connect to a network (make sure your wifi switch is on)
11. you should see zoom, right click on it and select properties from the menu
12. go to security tab of this menu and select WPA2-personal as security type, and AES as encryption type (some XP do not support AES, in that case you will have to select TKIP, thn again you need to go back to step 9 and change the encryption type)
13. type you password exactly you typed in step 9 (CASE SENSITIVE), click ok

remove the ethernet cable, it should connect to internet wirelessly, if not try turning off the power of both the modem and router for 30-50 seconds. this will make them adapt to new setting.

SOURCE: HP laptop won't always connect to zoom router

Every time I have ran into this issue it is because of wireless interference. Try these steps:

1) If you have a cordless phone, try turning it off (unplug the base). Some cordless phones operate on the same frequency that your wireless network does.

2) Change the wireless 'channel' your network is on. There are 11 channels. For best results, choose either 1, 6 or 11. Most wireless routers come preconfigured on channel 6. So if your neighbor has wireless and is operating on the same channel, your leptop may be getting confused.

3) Make sure your laptop and wireless router are operating on the same encryption level (WEP, WPA or WPA-2) and speed (A, B or G). Some older laptops do not support WPA-2.

Good Luck!

Top 5 iPad 2G rumours you need to know

The internet loves Apple and it loves ill-founded speculation, so it's hardly surprising that iPad 2 rumours were flying before the first iPad even reached the UK.<br /> With only weeks to go before its expected unveiling the iPad 2 release date, specs and price are still closely guarded secrets, but that doesn't mean there aren't some juicy rumours, inspired guesses and possibly even Apple leaks to consider.<br /> Reports suggest Apple is also expecting massive demand for the new device and has ordered six million units per month.<br /> Here's our pick of the top 5 iPad 2G rumours.<br /> iPad 2 specs: a seven-inch screen?<br /> All of Apple's rivals have plumped for 7-inch displays, which means their tablets are lighter than the iPad. Will Apple follow them into seven-inch territory?<br /> iLounge says prototypes exist, while earlier this year DigiTimes predicted not just a seven-inch iPad 2, but a 5.6-inch iPad 2. Apparently the smaller iPads would target ebooks while the current iPad would target multimedia entertainment, "sources stated". We're doubtful. Apple already does a mini-iPad with a retina display. It's the iPod touch.<br /> The idea of a smaller iPad 2 took another knock in November, when 9to5Mac reported that the iPad 2 adverts have already been shot - with current-generation iPads playing the role of iPad 2s. The iPad 2s will be digitally added nearer the time, and of course that's much harder to do if the iPad 2 is smaller than the iPads the actors are actually holding.<br /> The iPad 2 release date is probably in the Spring<br /> Rumours suggested that the iPad 2 would be rushed out in time for Christmas, but if that's Apple's plan they're being awfully last-minute about it. Early 2011 seems like a much better bet, and it fits with Apple's annual product cycle: the first iPad was announced in January and shipped in the spring.<br /> On 7 December we reported on rumours that Apple would be shipping iPad 2 units out to warehouses in February 2011. If that date is correct, it suggests an iPad 2 release date of some time around April.<br /> iPad 2 specs: a faster processor<br /> KitGuru "has been hearing rumours from the Far East" that the iPad 2 will be a seven-inch job with a 2GHz processor and an HD video camera. It reckons the processor will be based on ARM's Cortex A9, the 1GHz dual-core processor that you'll find in the BlackBerry PlayBook.<br /> iPad 2 specs: more memory<br /> This is a no-brainer: the iPhone 4 has twice the memory of the iPad (512MB compared to 256MB), largely because the iPhone does multitasking. Since the iOS 4.2 release, iPads do multitasking too. 256MB already seems a little bit stingy.<br /> iPad 2 specs: retina display<br /> Will the gorgeous screen from the iPhone 4 make its way to the iPad? The Apple Blog thinks so: "You can be sure that Apple's Retina Display, or something very close, will make its way to iPad".<br /> Then again, such a screen would massively increase the number of pixels, increasing the demands on both the iPad's processor and its battery, so a nine-inch Retina Display is a challenge. If Apple's solved it we'll see you down the Apple Store the second it goes on sale.<br /> Now it's obvious that the iPad has established an identity of its own, so 2011 might be the most opportune time to introduce an addition to the line. The popularity of small e-readers like the Kindle and the mini-sized Samsung Galaxy Tab prove there is a market for a smaller device. Now there are more reports from supply chain sources claiming that Apple is developing a device that is "about half the size of the current tablet computer, and will include front- and back-mounted cameras."<br /> So there are a bunch of rumors pointing towards Apple unveiling a pair of new iPads for 2011-but none of them are from Apple. Steve Jobs has scoffed at the idea of a mini-iPad, claiming the screen would be "too small to express the software." Of course, he's changed his mind before. And he's also lied to throw us off the track of new products before they're released.<br /> About author<br /> Telford, the writer of digital multimedia software from <a href="">dvd to itunes</a> software, makes it easy to find what software, including <a href="">dvd to ipod touch</a>, etc, are the best for you. Any suggestions to my writing please leave your precious message.<br />

Cannot open Facebook on my iPad. Keep getting message after entering password "cannot communicate with server." Cannot close account. NOTHING WORKS!

This answer appears after many, many complaints of the same thing on an Apple Forum (link included).

Re: can't sign in to facebook on my ipad, error message 'enter the Facebook password for "" in Settings.' in response to tracey104 I have been struggling with this error message since it first appeared on my iPhone many, many moons ago. I have tried to fix a few times but gave up trying.
I tried my Facebook password like it requested and got the "..could not communicate with server error message" like everyone else. Today it showed up again and I vowed to fix it once and for. In addition to my iPhone, I have an IPad 4. I have never seen the message appear on my Ipad. In my iPad I went into settings, Facebook, and lo and behold i saw my name right below settings. I clicked my name and it said:
Full Name XXXXX XXXXX (my first and last name)
User Name XXXX.XXXXX.33 (<<<--- this is the key to the whole mess. Firstname dot lastname dot 33)
Password ooooooooooo (this is your facebook login password)
I stared at the User Name in amazement. This is probably what the facebook setting was needing, but it was only asking for password. So here is what I did:
I hit Delete Account and it then it asked for those three pieces of information. So I entered in my iPhone what was on my Ipad 4 and it cleared everything up. Now I was lucky I had another apple device with my User Name already inputted. Where would I have found out that crucial piece of information if I had not had another apple device? It is part of your Facebook login web address. Another place you can find it is: Log into facebook account, go to About and look for your contact info, it will be something like this: bill.smith.22 is your User Name
So basically your Facebook has three names attached to it: #1 your name = Bill Smith #2 User Name = bill.smith.22 #3 email or phone that you put in your web browser with your password to log in to facebook. Confused? So was I. I hope my instructions weren't confusing.

Please post a reply if it does work!

Ipad problems

This article may help you. It is for iPhone, but the same operating system runs on iPad as well.

Several months ago I downloaded iOS 7 beta with developer program. It worked fine. When iOS 7 had officially came out, I checked my phone and it restarted on its own. The locked screen said"Activation Error: This device is not registered as part of the iPhone Developer Program. If you are a member of the iPhone Developer Program, please register your device in the iPhone Developer Program Portal at" I went to the link using my computer, although I am not a developer, and it didn't help me.
Recent days we see lots of iPhone users reported iOS 7 activation error. How did this happened? It is probably because users installed iOS 7 beta 6. As the iOS 7 beta has expired on October 6, which means anyone still running one won't be able to use their iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, and won't even be able to get past Activation if they try.
If you're experiencing an iOS 7 activation error on your iPhone/other device and were previously using iOS7 beta, there's a good chance to fix it with following simple steps:
1) make sure you have upgraded to iTunes 11.1.1. It is the most recent version of iTunes.
2) Plug you iPhone/iDevice into your computer. Back up the data on the device.
3) Click "Restore" on your device's page in iTunes. If this doesn't work, proceed to DFU mode
4) your device is done restoring and activating you can restore your data from your iTunes backup
5) you can use your non-beta iOS 7
If iTunes says there is no newer version to upgrade to, you can put your iPhone or device to DFU mode after the backup. DFU (Device Firmware Update) mode will make sure you download and install the latest release version of iOS off of Apple's servers.
1) Plug your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad into your Mac or Windows PC and make sure iTunes is running.
2) Hold down both the Sleep Button (on top of your device) and the Home Button (on the front underneath the screen).
3) Keep them both held down from about 10 seconds. (If you see the Apple logo, you've held them too long and will need to start again.)
4) Let go of the Sleep Button but keep holding the Home Button for about 5 seconds. (If you see the "Plus into iTunes" screen than you held it too long and will need to start again.)
5) Restore the device

IPhone 3G keeps saying 'bluetooth unavailable' and 'No Wi-Fi'

If iPhone won't turn on, or the display freezes or doesn't respond
  1. Press and hold the Home button for at least six seconds, until the application you were using quits.
  2. If that doesn't work, turn iPhone off and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPhone for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then slide the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
  3. If that doesn't work, reset iPhone. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

More resets:
Try This:
1. Remove Sim Card
2. Hold in 'Home' button and 'On/Off' button together until Apple logo appears
3. Replace Sim Card
4. Hold in 'Home' button and 'On/Off' button together until normal phone screen appears.

Also, Try this:
1.) Shut down the iPhone 3G.
2.) Start up iTunes
3.) Hold down HOME button on the iPhone 3G
4.) While keeping the HOME button depressed, plug in the Sync cable
5.) A message will pop up to ask if you want to reset.
6.) Just click YES and the reset process should start.
