I am trying to open the webcam programme and it is saying I need to download updates from the website, but I go to the link and nothing happens
My built in webcam stopped working a few weeks ago. Now I noticed there is no icon or anything for the webcam in the programs feature. How can I get my webcam back? Can and where can I redownload it from the web?

The oiriginal Acer webcam was providied by the manufacturer as a software program to be used by microsoft! After the warranty expired, I installed windows 7 and the camera disappeared! What does that tell ya!
Not installed? Look at the Device Manager and see if there is a camera under Imaging Devices, if not, it is not installed.
In use by another user, well rebooting would take care of that issue.
If it's installed and the drivers are there correctly try ManyCam, it's so simple. You can always download Manycam and install it. Go towww.google.com and in the search box type: "download.cnet.com"(without the quotes). Click on the link to go to the site. When thesite opens look down on the left and you will see a gray area that says FindSoftware. Type "Manycam" (without the quotes) in the whitesearch area then hit the search mirror. When it brings back your resultslook for the one that says ManyCam Virtual Webcam. Down load it andinstall it. Make sure you remove the check box on any junky programs itwould like to install. You only want to install ManyCam, no additionswhatsoever during the install. ManyCam is totally FREE and easy to use,and you will always know where your webcam software is.
Right click My Computer and select Properties. Click on the Hardware tab, then click on Device Manager. Expand out the Imaging devices. If Acer Crystal Eye webcam is not listed, proceed to Acer's website to download the drivers for the webcam specific to your Acer's make/model.
If Acer Crystal Eye webcam is listed, double click on the Acer Crystal Eye webcam listing. This opens a properties box. Check that the Device usage is set to "Use this device (enable)." Select the Driver tab to check on the driver's status. Choose to update the driver. This might fix it. If not, return to the General tab and click the Troubleshoot button.
simpliest thing would be to go to acer's website, click on support and then drivers downloads and download the webcam drivers and softwar for your webcam..install them and try to run the crystal eye software again...sounds like the program isnt actually there but the drivers are.
If you go to your start menu, look for a programme called 'acer crystal eye webcam' and that will bring up your webcam programme.
It is not in the folder 'Acer crystal eye webcam' though, just 'Crystal eye webcam'.
