I have a US!1102 AO Smith 1HP Pool Pump Motor. I was told to hold one end of the motor shaft and turn the Impeller clockwise to remove the impeller, I was told NOT to remove the nut at the center of the...

I have never taken this pump apart.
If I were in your position and I could move the impellar 1/8 turn, the next thing that I would do is carefully loosen the nut on the end of the shaft being careful that nothing else disassembles. Once this nut is loose say 2 turns, try the impellar again watching what is moving. It seems that the nut may have to be removed.
Also, I'm not sure which way the nut of the impellar rotates to remove, but you seem to have that under control since you have it moving already.

Motor is frozen.

Unlessyou can find an HVAC shop with a NOS motor for this unit you will notfind a drop in replacement. Even if you do get lucky and find a NOSmotor be prepared to pay nearly as much for it as you would a whole newevap cooler.

That said, there are motors out there that will work, but you're going to have to make them fit with custom mounts.

It'sstill a little spendy, especially if you want two speeds like theoriginal motor had, but you can get out for $80 or less if you'rewilling to settle for one speed (on/off). has a "Packard 40066" compressor motor for $69 plus $13 shipping. It may work but has only one speed.

Basicallywhat you're looking for is a "48 frame", 1/8 hp, direct drive,110-120v, 1075rpm, 1/2" shaft diameter and around 3" in length (to giveyou flexability when mounting), "totally enclosed" or "open drip-proof"housing (NOT "open"). Rotation can be either CW or CCW as you can mountthe motor on either side of the housing and some motors are reversable. If you've got the skill to custom make some mounts then you canprobably fudge some of these specs. The ones you can't change are the1/2" shaft and the RPM. Do not exceed 1075rpm. The blower assemblysimply can't be made to go much faster in that housing and if you tryyou will overheat the motor and burn it out very quickly (trust me onthis one!). Most of the cheap motors I've found are 208-230v and I justdon't see the point in having a small 220v PORTABLE evap cooler, that'sjust dumb.

After a LOT of online research I've found thefollowing motors that would be a suitable replacement, with all theabove mentioned specifications. I'm sure there are more, but crossreferencing this information for someone not in the business is trickyand time consuming.

Good reading for selecting a replacement motor:

Isuppose that if you found a smoking deal on eBay for an "Open" typemotor you could try it, but I doubt it would last long and make damnsure that ****** is grounded well.

How to remove motor AO Smith Model C48K2N143CIC

Take off the rear cover as to expose the capacitor. Remove capacitor. Place a 7/16 wrench on the shaft threw the opening where you removed the capacitor. Put a rag on the impeller and with a wrench turn it counterclockwise. It should come off easily. Make sure you replace the seals before reassembling
