Hi there.
Yes it is covered because its hardware, software however is not covered. If the machine is still under a year old then it is covered by the manufacturers warranty. Check your policy or phone them up as i'm 99% sure that insurance covers all hardware so they will replace the battery for free.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

If my battery for my HP laptop is dead, should the computer still operate with the AC adapter?

yes, it will operate with the AC adapter . But I suggest you consult HP for a battery replacement. If you bought this below 1 year of purchase, I believe you are entitled for a 1 year warranty. But just the same, it will turn on the laptop with the AC adapter connected.

I had a problem with my power supply that broke wires at the connector for the box. They tend to kink their or at the computer and fray inside the rubber. I had also purchased a new battery.

My v2000 will not come on at all? I have it plugged in with the adapter and it's like there is no power to it at all?

check power supply adaptor and batteries if they are supplying enough power, if you can borrow a power adaptor and spare battery try replacing them with one your notebook has.
if it works then your adaptor and batter are out, normaly if the adaptor stops working the battery would have died down too as you would have not noted till the notebook totally died down.

Bought new power cord for pavillon dv 1000 and

If the laptop runs on batter but cannot run on the AC adapter, you have a broken DC Jack. If you laptop cannot power up with the battery or flash low battery indicator, you laptop is dead.

No power from cord to computer

Hi...

If your laptop is under warranty go back to the manufacturer. If not go to hp center and buy a power cord of your charger which is totally fix to the charging hole.

Good luck

I removed my battery and guess my cmos battery was dead now i just get center light when plugged into ac, can not get anything to power up

cmos battery being dead will not cause this issue. you can actually remove the cmos batter and power the unit on fine. your issue sounds like it more motherboard related. check this link to see if you qualify. others have qualified for this motherboard replacement. i have sent many laptops in for no power/no video/no boot issues

Cracked HP laptop LCD

under warranty if it is a defect from manufacture or if you bought extended warranty from retailer, some policy's cover damage. Only covered if policy is still within time of purchase.

If it is not covered it will be cheaper to replace computer than repair.

You can search here for warranty from manufacture.

Hope your covered. Please rate if this fixed you. Good luck!

Ram upgrade = computer will not load

First check out the RAM you had prior. If it is DDR or DDR2 then it needs to match exactly. If you go to the HP website and type in your model number they can tell you what RAM is compatible. If it matches what you bought and its not working then the RAM is bad and needs to be sent back.

Please rate this solution and thanks for using FixYa.

Notebook is not powering up

You have a fairly common failure of teh power plug on the motherboard. You can get a replacement for less than $100and have it installed locally for about the same price if you are not comfortable doing it yourself.

Motherboards are available here:
