I love Dell for this reason, just go to the link, type in your Serial Number (found on the bottom of the laptop) and it will tell you :)

I plug my laptop in and it comes up on the screen, unable to identify battery, but has a full charge? Why?


All dell batteries have a small chip in them. Basicly Dell has determined that your battery has reached the end of its useful service life compared to other batteries that it has tested.

This is compuletely normal for dell computers. Now if your computer is still within the warranty period they will send out a new one free of charge.

To find out if you have remaining warranty, go to dells warranty page here. On that page you will enter your service tag # that is found on a thin white sticker on the back of your computer.

If you are getting an vertical lines on your screen then its a hardware problem would suggest you to get in touch with the vendor from whom you have purchased the laptop and they would tell you the best way to get the warranty from or get in touch with dell customer care and check out your warranty period.

do open because you will void the warranty

put the latop in the trunk of your car, so that the insect can freeze

or take it to dell because that will be the easiest way to go

for that u not have install any driver if your computer in worantty period then call to dell and tell them they fix your problem or not in warranty then also tell them they haelp u better in the inbuilt problem

As the laptop is still in warranty period, let us not open it up and loose the warranty. And also that she has taken additional insurance, you can threaten both o=the parties, ie, Dell and the insurer, that you will take them to the consumer forum (or whatever you have equivalent to that) which I am sure you have in your country. Yes, it is an additional headache, but sometimes you have to tolerate such aches and pains.

the battery has reached its expected life, you need to replace it. If it is under warranty, you can call dell and have them replace it. You can still use you laptop with the wall power/charger plugged in, remove the battery to get rid of the flashing red/green light.
