Question about Canon CanoScan LiDE 60

Canoscan Lide 60 suddenly cannot be communicated.

I have been using this canoscan Lide 60 for 2 years, everything was fine. but suddenly didn't work recently and told me "cannot communicate with scanner. Cable may be disconnected or scanner maybe turned off..."
I checked the cable, it was fine. And I didn't turn it off, because I even couldn't find the switch to turn the scanner on.
Anyone knows where the swtich button is? or what happened to my scanner? Thank you in advance.

    I cannot get my Canoscan lide 60 to work either. Mine dropped a short distance. I'm afraid that may be the problem. I can't close the lock on the bottom of the scanner. I'm afraid that, whatever is supposed to be locked, has been knocked out of place. I'm not quite sure how to proceed. I might take it apart and see if it can be fixed. I wonder if anyone would service it for a cost less than I paid for it?

    I have the same problem! I have the Canoscan LiDe 60 and it worked fine for around 4 years and then the computer crashed recently and when I try to scan now it says

    "Cannot communicate with scanner.

    Cable may be disconnected or scanner may be turned off.

    Check status

    Scanner driver will be closed." and then when you press ok, another message comes up that says

    "Unable to open TWAIN source

    Please check connection

    Then re-start Toolbox."

    ??? I've tied reconnecting the usb cable to every different port on my computer and the computer beeps every time I put it in but the toolbox thing doesn't pick it up! Can't find the power button on the scanner either...is there even one?

    ...Very annoyed x_x

Hi um i don't know if this will actually work but it did for me, I had 2 problems with the lide 60 scanner-one was a connection/cable thing and another was this "TWAIN source thing" and after installing this:

i seem to only have one....i think the connection/cable got fixed.
oh well, give it a try anyway :) cant hurt

Lide 60 not working in mountain lion


Guide to installing Canon CanoScan LiDE 35, 50 and 60 on Mac OS X 10.8. Mountain Lion:


FIRST PART: DELETING OLD LiDE DRIVERS AND SOFTWARE


  • If this is the first attempt to install the scanner, skip this part


  • Trash the following files/folders from these folders:


HD:/Library/Image Capture/Twain Data Sources

delete the CanoScan CanoScan XXXX.ds file

(Make note of any other files that may be in this folder. If other files are present, move them to the desktop for now. Then place them back after successfully using the scanner.)


HD:/Library/Preferences

delete the 'CanoScan XXXX' folder


HD:/Users/Shared

delete the folders containing the name CanoScan, or starting with CNQL.


HD:/Applications

delete the CanoScan Toolbox Application


HD:/Users/YOUR-MAC-USERNAME/Library/Preferences

delete any items named "CanoScan Toolbox"


  • Restart your computer, then empty the trash


SECOND PART: MAKING YOUR SCANNER WORK


  • Make sure your scanner is well connected


  • Download the right driver depending on your Model. Also download the Scanner Software. Copy the filenames and search them via Google. Make sure you download the Canon files from an official Canon domain.


CanoScan LiDE 50 and LiDE 35 work both with the 35 driver:

lide35osx7721en.dmg


CanoScan LiDE 60 driver:

lide60osx11131en.dmg


VueScan Software:

http://www.hamrick.com/#download

VueScan 9.2 (or later) x32 for Mac OS X


Alternative to VueScan: CanoScan Toolbox. I prefer VueScan.

Try your luck with Version 4 or Version 5.

CanoScan Toolbox 4: cstbosx4934ej4.dmg

CanoScan Toolbox 5: cstbosx5014ej4.dmg


  • Open the downloaded driver file (lide35osx7721en.dmg or lide60osx11131en.dmg)


  • and Double-click the ScanGear file, install and restart when prompted


  • Open the downloaded VueScan file (vuex3292.dmg) and drag the VueScan application to the Mac Applications folder


  • Open the VueScan application. The scanner should be recognized automatically.


(Alternatively try and install CanoScan Toolbox 4 or 5)

Not a solution, but a confirmation. My Canoscan Lide 60 is no longer recognized by the system. It seems as though it does not power up. It gets its power from the USB interface. There is no "on" switch. Are there diagnostic tools available?

Yes it is compatible with windwos 7.

Click on above link wait for 3 minute then select your os win7 then wait again then download driverr and patch update for it then install in computer then you can use it.

Looks like things have got a bit mixed up with the canon software. Try this:-

1) Un-install the camera.
2) Un-install the scanner.
3) Re-start the PC.
4) Re-install the scanner.

Canoscan does not work on vista 64-bit


I'm not sure if this will work on the lide 20. I have an lide 35, and there are no 64 bit drivers for it. I downloaded and installed the drivers for the lide 60, told the computer to manually find the lide 60 drivers for my scanner, and installed the canoscan toolbox for vista 64 bit. Works like a champ.

It shouldn't be necessary to download the 'Recommended' "DriverDetective." I believe this is a commercial program.

Is the scanner detected in Apple System profiler? If so, what applications have you tried to access the scanner from?
