Question about Lexmark X5150 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Vista will not allow me to connect my lexmark X5150.

As I run thru the Instillation process of the Lexmark X5150 onto my new computer w/Vista, I come to the point where the Instillation asks me "Connect Your Printer". There are two selections, USB cable connection or connect onta a Network. I need to connect onto a USB, but it does not allow me to continue. The Network does allow me to continue, but I am not connected on the Network, what can I do?

Here is what I would do if I were you.... go to start, then control panel, then click on printers... find the lexmark printer, right click, delete... hit yes to confirm.. restart the computer... then go to www.lexmark.com then click the tab that has to do with driver downloads.. then click "drivers"... then type x5150 in the model .. then select the appropriate version of windows that you have, and run the file.. that's what i had to do to fix mine....... :)

Lexmark's support site describes a detailed solution for your problem. The general approach is that the Lexmark Vista driver will work in Windows 7 for the X5150 if you follow these steps:

1. Disconnect the USB cable, and uninstall the existing driver using the following method (NOT the Control Panel/Device Manager, Printers/Faxes page, or Add/Remove Programs links):
A. Find the Lexmark 5150 Series on your Start Menu program listing, then go to Tools, then select Uninstall.
B. Click on the Yes button, and then be patient while the process completes.
C. Restart the computer with the USB cable still disconnected.

2. Download the appropriate Vista (32 or 64 bit) driver from this link at Lexmark.

3. Reconnect the USB cable.

4. Install the downloaded Vista driver normally and restart the computer. According to Lexmark, this will work.

Hope that's helpful.
