Question about E-Machines eMachines Desktop PC

1 Answer

I have a Emachines T5026. I replaced the DVD drive because it went out. So I decided to upgrade other things. I upgraded my RAM from 512 to 1.5 gig RAM. Now I think I need to replace the fan because it is noisy. I was wondering what else I might need to replace? How long do computers usually last? I definitly need this computer to last. I can't afford a new one.

If you start noticing problems with random shutdowns or anything like that I would suspect your power supply, the new parts might overload the power supply, but unless you're adding new parts that weren't there before in addition to the old parts you should be fine. Computers can last as long as you are willing to keep replacing parts.

hi

not every motherboard or on board video is compatible with windows 8

what windows was it running previously

windows 8 was designed for 64 bit platforms which requires 4 gig of ram but you have to also take into account the other hardware components and there maximum configuration

i have run win 8 on 2 gig of ram but it struggles with you tube downloads

i upgraded the ram to 4 gig and run win xp win 7 and win 8.1 on the hard drive

cheers

Can you upgrade to 4 gigs of memory even though it says 2gigs on the eMachines EL1200-05w

@stuart252

I don't recommend upgrading the computer's RAM because this computer only supports up to 2Gb at max, if you upgrade it to 4Gigs (2pcs 2Gb), the machine may not boot up at all.

Cheers

I need the processor

Hi.
The emachines t2958 has a celeron D processor 2.66ghz with a 256KB L2 cache and 533 FSB.

The fastest processor that you can go with is a pentium4 3.06 ghz, with a 1 MB L2 cache amd 533 FSB.

Not a huge improvement, but an improvement none the less.

I would go with uphrading the memory, it comes with 1 stick of 512 mb pc2100 ram, there is a second slot available, bumping you up to 1 gig of ram.

That will actually give you a better performance boost that the processor upgrade, and is probably cheaper as well.

I hope this clears things up for you.

WANT TO PLAY GTA 4

It will run but if you want smooth full graphics you will need to get a better video card. of course 4 gigs of ram is better then 2 but if you are running 32 bit windows then you are stuck with a max of 3 gigs of ram.

I have attempted to upgrade a Gateway GT52223 from 1= Gig existing 2X 512 DIMMS to 2 Gig on two separate occasions first using Using Crucial -2-1GB 240-PIN 128Mx64 DDR2 PC2-6400 UNBUFF CL6 the system...

Your last results is running your comp OK because it is really only running on the 512 stick. When putting 2 different sizes together it will only run on the smallest, with this said here is a website http://www.4allmemory.com it will test your comp to exactly what type RAM you need . I buy for my clients all the time from this website. Very reliable,Try it..and remember about the 2 sizes

It can be done, but to tell you the truth, if you are looking to upgrade the MB, processor, and get additional RAM, you would be better off just purchasing a new PC. You would probably get a better deal.

Just my opinion.

After installing hard drive, monitor, keyboard, mouse not working

Have you tried to enter BIOS? Are you able to enter BIOS?? There may be an option you have to hit to enable SATA, and to select the boot device order, which may be messing things up.
Also, remember that STATIC ELECTRICITY is your enemy! Ground yourself when working inside the case.
