Connecting wi-fi blue-ray disc player to router

I can't get my wireless blue-ray disc player to connect to my d-link #dir-655 router

We just bought the Samsung BD-P3600 blu-ray disc player. It has a wi-fi so you can connect to internet to download movies and such. (netflix). When I try to set up the network I see my SSID to connect to and have entered the security key and it won't connect. I know my router is working properly because I have a laptop and iphone linked to it. My router is the D-Link dir-655. I'm suspicious it may be a setting on the router?

I don't think so. Laptop runs on vista and IPhone mac. Anymore ideas?

  • cwhite2591 Mar 12, 2009

I got it figured out yesterday. I went into the router's config and and saw that the security mode was WPA2 Only-Personal. (also it was on 802.11 Mixed) then in the network setup for the blu-ray player I set it to the same, entered the security key and ta-dah it worked.

Thank you for your help :)

What kind of 802.11 mode did you set on your router 802.11g only, 802.11n only, or a mixed 802.11n and 802.11g? This is very important, because from what I know the BD-P3600 blu-ray disc player has 802.11n Wi-Fi. So your roouter must be setup to accept 802.11n clients.

Maybe you have a MAC addresses filter implemented on the router.

    Hello,

What do you mean by you cannot connect to your router? Be more specific please.

    Best Regards,

No solution, but why doesn't Samsung make this a little more user friendly... I am not a electronics geek, and I set up my PS3 in 5 minutes, and still can't figure out the Samsung Blue Ray player... contemplating just carrying it back for a refund!!

If your blue ray player has Wi-Fi built-in and you have a wireless (Wi-Fi) home network, the way to do the upgrade is via the Internet by connecting the player to your Wi-Fi home network.

Try resetting the router back to default settings. Press and hold the reset button for 10 secs. then release. After the reset, try accessing 192.168.0.1 once again and check if you have the complete details on your wireles LAN section.

Lost D-Link Disc

You need to configure your router again.
Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
http://192.168.0.1
or
http://192.168.1.1
If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.
Click on WAN settings and set those settings as your internet service provider settings.
Enable DHCP if you want to get ip from router.
Click on wireless settings enable wireless then enable WEP Security then add WEP code .It is your password to connect wi fi.Then save settings and restart router.
Then you can connect your wi fi network with that code.

Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

MAC Book Pro unable to connect the wi-fi. Connection timed out er

Reset your wireless password/key. Login in using your browser and go to the wireless settings and set-up a wireless password/key. Remember the key because each device will now need it to connect. You can also turn OFF Broadcast SSID and your network name will not be shown on anyone's device. You must remember the network name when using this method.
