Frigidaire washer model FWTR647GHS0 will not spin

Ok guys.. Woman needs to fix washer. I took the back off, and the belt is as tight as a drum skin, and looks as new as the day it was made, 10 years ago. It is a Frigidaire Gallery Model number FWTR647GHS0. The latch seems tight, but the washer drum will not turn. It does everything else, without a problem. It hums like it should through the spin cycle, without any unusal sounds. I have checked for coins. Nothing smells "odd". (no burnt smells, or unpleasant smells, like coins leave) What is the likelihood that it is bushings, or a clutch? Help! I'm ready to start beating on it with a coke bottle! :)

SOURCE: load noise in final spin cycle

turn the tub on the inside if it feels ruff as it turns and makes a noise then most likely you have a bad rear bearing, if it is smooth in turning and no noise then turn to drain or spin possibly something stuck in drain pump. the drain pump will start up first if you hear the noise then the drain pump is accessed from the front lower cover, if its the rear bearing probably not worth fixing about 400.00 in parts and alot of work.

SOURCE: banging tumbler during spin cycle

Be certain that nothing got under the rubber skirt, pull it back and look /feel under it .
inside the tub are the large wiper arms solid and not come loose.
open the top access panel (3 screws in top rear )
and open the bottom access Panel (3 screws in bottom front)
Dissconnect power .
Look at the springs and arms that attach to the tub are they secure.
is the large stone concreate slabs secure.
move all these items and push at them all secure?
you can run it while open but the bottom has a switch on front right that has to be closed.
look watch listen.

you can't really tighten a belt, I suggest that you change it, although it is extremely hard to replace a a new belt yourself. Have you checked the carbon brushes in the motor do not need changing, this could also generate a burning smell and leave you clothes wet if they are worn.

I have a Frigidaire affinity front load washer (fafs4474lwo) it doesn't do the final spin to get the water out of the clothes. I was getting an E52 and E58 codes. I replaced the drive motor and the motor...

Just a thought. If the drum spins when washer is empty that tells me your belt could be shot and just slips when there is a load in it. Check and see if the belt wiggles or appears loose when you squeeze it by hand with the plug pulled of course. If the belt is tight it could be a pulley is spinning on the shaft.

Kenmore elite quiet pak 2 washer

is this a front load washer?next time send model number.if it is a front loader most likely if noisy in spin is a bad spider gear,if you look into the machine on the back wall you'll see like a piece sign, that's the gear, the metal rots from using to much soap and overloading, you should only be using two tablespoons of soap that's it,if you use the cap off of the detergent bottle don't fill it up any more higher than the height of your index finger, when you open the door or when it drains you might smell something nasty, that's from all the soap biuldup in the washer.i told one woman about this and she called sears, they gave her the spin basket assy. for 100 dollars but they wanted 1800 to fix it are they nuts lol,she had the washer all apart and actually replaced the spin basket, big job you have to split the tub to do this,i would just replace the washer and start with the right amount of soap and don't overload it.

Loud in spin cycle/throws oil

If the pulley wobbles, it sounds like a bad bearing, and that could account for the oil/grease. One more thing you might check, mine acted bad in the spin cycle, but mine was the leveling spring at the bottom of the drum. The way to tell from the top is if the drum tends to lean forward instead of being centered when sitting. Good luck.

Front loader washer machine not rotating.

Fisrt, see if you can rotate it by hand, BOTH directions. It should have some resistance. If you can spin it and when you stop pushing it will turn a full turn, your drum belt is too loose. If the belt is good and tight, it will spin less than one half rotation, there is probably something blocking one of the wheels that the drum rides on.

Non-spinning washer

Have you checked the motor? Make sure that the motor is turning properly and also make sure that your belt it not to tight. It should have some give in it. If none of that works then look at the main bearing under the pulley on the drum

The problem is your door latch assembly. This is a common problem in Frigidaire front load washers. You need to replace the assembly. It is difficult to get to, you have to remove the entire front panel to get to it, but it should fix your problem. It costs around $50 and you can get it from your local appliance parts store or oder it from

Washer Stopped Spinning

My Frigidaire front loading washer is less than 2 years old and YES there is a belt, I am going to replace my 3rd belt this week.....the wheel on the back of the drum has moved enough, even after numberous times of tightening, that it has worn a HUGE hole in the back of the drum from the belts. I will NEVER buy another product from them again, due to not standing behind their product and sending a repair man to my home to fix it, then telling me that I will have to replace the drum....(ltf2940es0).

Shocks broke, now drums spins freely

What you need to check thoroughly are the belt & the 2 shocks (dampers). The dampers should be replaced & fitted tightly, broader ends fitted below.
