When I had ATT U-Verse installed, they use a 2Wire 3800HGV-B modem/router. When installed, I lost access to the printer connected to the Computer hardwired to that modem from my laptop PC on a home wireless network. I also lost connections to all other computers in my home, wired and wireless. I previously had that access with the same physical set-up using an ATT DSL 2wire Modem/router. How can I it set-up so I have access to the printer through my laptop on the home wireless network ATT v-Verse help desk told me that don't provide support for this question. They referred me to ATT Connect Tech where they offered to help me only if I purchased a 6 month service contract for $175.00.

I don't know what kind of printer you have, but I had same problem with my wifi printer (epson)
Best think to do is reset your printer to factory default and then connect you printer with the u-verse modem/server network port and reinstall your software and you should be able to install the printer again. after successfully done this then you can disconnect your network cable and should work wireless.

Is the printer connected via wireless? When I recently connected up a new wireless printer to my UVerse network, the printer manual said that establishing the first connection works better via an Ethernet cable directly to the Uverse router. After the printer is set up once, then I could remove the ethernet cable and connect to the printer via wireless from all my computers.
For all wireless PCs that were previously connected via wireless to dsl, you need to create a new network connection for each one, then enter the key that is listed on the side of your Uverse router when prompted. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to establish the connection.
I am amazed that ATT was so unhelpful on these issues. I was one of their first Uverse customers in Texas, and several times over the last years, techs would visit my house to solve a problem or hook something up, explaining to me as he went. That their helpful attitude is deteriorating is a real shame.

My wifi on my laptop wont connect to modem but other laptops will how do i make it connect

*If you want to connect wirelessly, make sure you know the Network Name and the Network Key of the Router or the modem. the only problem is the settings coz other computers can connect

*You can also check if the wireless adapter is properly installed and working properly

* Make sure that the wireless switch is on

*If everything is checked Click on start - Connect To - look for the network name - enter the network key :)

I have a bigpond supplied 2wire wireless internet modem (2701HGV-W) which works seemlessly with my laptop running XP-sp2 for internet and email. Recently I purchased a Brother MFC 6890-CDW which offers...

Check if it's recognised on the local area network etc, make sure driver is installed and you may need to reset all pc,router etc to get connection. Now remember you need a router for this to work, with only a modem it will not function. You also need to restart all instruments etc before it's picked up by the router and the network..Google a bit and it will solve this.Make sure it uses wifi and not bluetooth as then it will need the right bluetooth connection to your pc..

Current modem working fine with ATT DSL. I want to install a second modem (2wire) by direct connection to same DSL phone connection (in different room). I have hooked up other modem, filled in user ID and...

Is that second location also a DSL line? You may have to consult with AT&T to see if the DSL line runs to that second location.

What are you trying to accomplish? By adding a second modem, you essentially create two separate networks. Why not use a switch and connect it to the first modem, which would allow you to connect more PCs.

2wire 2701HGV-W Gateway wi-fi modem

The 8200 by itself does not have networking capability.
This means that you cannot connect it directly to your router and give it an IP address, so others can connect to it.

The good thing is, that this printer is listed on the list for compatibility for upgrade with the wireless network kit (see here). The bad thing is - this kit costs about 70$ (see here).

A solution which does not cost anything, is to share the printer from your computer with the other computers. The downside is that the machine to which the printer is connected has to be running in order to let the others print.

If you decide to buy the Networking Kit - here are the setup instructions.

Sorry - but there is no simple (plug & pray) solution.
