I have the same problem. Any solutions

Viper never stops spinning after it goes into spinout mode. The cams are working properly, it just doesn't return to normal vac mode. It may be that the ball/spring assembly is stuck.

We found the problem to be a faulty check valve. the check valve cost about 25.00. I ordered it from poolcenter.com. The check valve is located by the cam. It's an easy fix. The check valve comes with the hose attachment, but since our hose was ok we just used a tie strap to connect the new check valve to the hose...sliped back into place... and it works like a charm once again. The part number is below. go to www.poolcenter.com

I had the same problem. I took the sweep motor apart and used a scotch brite pad and smooted the inside of the piston that operates the spinout. I also lubed the o-ring seals with some vaseline before putting it back together. I also used the scotch brite pad on the little plastic part and its mating surface the piston operates.

My viper just started spinning in a continuous circle wrapping the hose completely around the cleaner and the bag. It's not a hose problem. It was working OK one day and started this the next.

That sounds wild. I would call the Hayward technical service number at 908-355-7995 and maybe they can figure this out. I hope this helps.

VIPER 5500 SPINS AROUND IN CIRCLES CAUSING HOSE TO GET TANGLED. ANY SUGGESTIONS WHY?

There are a couple of things that you should try if this pool cleaners hose is frequently becoming tangled. Make sure that your floats are evenly and correctly spaced. One float should be 18" inches from each end and a third float located in the middle, 5 feet from either end. You should also make sure that the hose length is not too long for your pool size. Your spin out might be too high. Try moving it to a lower setting and then running the cleaner again.

Hose getting twisted

It could be a steering error that is causing it to tangle the hose. Try these suggestions first. Check and clean the rear screen. Make sure that you cone gear is free and rotates smoothly. Also check your turbine and spindle gear assembly. You will also want to try readjusting your return lines to redirect your cleaner. A common problem with these pool cleaners is that the return lines are directing them to circle, causing the hose to tangle. Finally, make sure that you are storing the hose in a NON-coiled position. If you coil the hose, it will cause it to be permanently bent and interrupt movement. If you have done this, lay the hose out flat in the sun for a few hours to help mold it to the original pattern.

The phantom just goes around in circles & gets tangled until it stops.

It sounds like the gear box has failed inside the unit. Causing it to not go straight anymore. Replace the gear box assembly.

Hose gets twisted all of the time Have replaced almost everything

Try laying the hose out on the ground and stretching it out as straight as you can get it. Let if sit this way in the sun for several hours. You might have a warp in the hose material that is causing these tangles. Allowing it to sit stretched in the sun for several hours will help. Also, try readjusting your return lines. They could be interfering with the pool cleaners pattern and causing the cord to become tangled.

Ray Vac Pool Cleaner for Inground Concrete: after cleaning out debris from my ray vac my jandy...

What model is it? Is it robotic (indepentdent of your pump and filter)? If it is attached to your pump system, it could be the cord getting tangled and causing the pool cleaner to move in circles. You might want to consider running it when you are available to watch it or getting a robotic cleaner that you can set to operate at certain times. You might just need to check the hose for defects that would cause it tangle.

Please provide instructions for replacing worn wear rollers on the hayward viper sweeper hose. Removing the worn ones is easy enough, but placing new ones doesn't seem possible unless you're able to...

If you look closley you will see that the end piece of the hose is a plug that slides into a coller. The outside will slide back and the end plug or nozzel will come out of host at that point. Good luck.

Seems like the movement of the navigator causes the hoses to tan

It sounds like it is time to pull the head and take it to the shop for repair. They can pinpoint wear and will usually do the repairs in the store for a small shop fee or just the cost of parts. It sounds like an "A" frame kit and gear box. Other things can be worn at the same time.

Hayward Viper will no longer turn around once stuck.

The spin-out Cam,you should have got 3 with your viper, are located on the top from front rignt side. You have to remove the top and then you see a small red flywheel thing. There is a white ball in the back where the pressure comes in. I ran a garden hose in and cleaned pressing gently on the ball. Worked for me good luck wuwei
