Printer not Commuicating with Computer

After the installation, I can Scan and but when I try to print something, I get a error msg indication Printer not communication with Computer, I checked the USB cable, Power cable, disconnected and reconnectedand Re-Started the computer. I noticed that when the printer on 'On' and I am restarting my computer, the light on the printer does not go out. I have a Lexmark 515 but it is not a Scanner nor Fax but when I use the printer and have to re-start my computer for some reason, I notice that the light on the printer goes out (Printer turns off) when re-booting the system.

    I tried adding a new USB cable and power plug, and re-started my computer. I still get the same msg. Printer not communicating with computer.

Greetings Ceegee,

The problem is not with the printer, scanner or the computer. A few days ago, I had the same issue on my comp a message popped up telling me "Twain error!Unable to initialize the device due to a communication error. I have un-installed every thing including the driver and the software and then reinstalled and that has resolved the issue. It should probably work with yours too. Iff you don't have the CD to do it you can get the driver and software from here
If it still doesn;t resolve the issue, then I have read an article on the lexark support site that says

"An issue was recently discovered with some internet security packages and the listed Lexmark printers. The issue turned out to be with the "Parental Controls" module of the packages.

NOTE:
Most 2008 versions of internet security packages do not have this issue.
What to do

  1. Use Add/Remove Programs to remove the Parental Controls module.
  2. If this option is not available, remove the internet security package (ISP) completely. For additional information or a product update, please contact your ISP providers. ISP providers offer a free download to their customers."

Hi Ceegie,
That is a driver issue, download the latest drivers for your printer here in the option "Search by model" type X1270 and press enter. 
In the thex step select your language and Operating system or just scroll all the way down and clic on the tab of operating system of your choice.
Download and install the file, is recomended to unplug the USB cable during the installation.

Hello.
what OS does you use?
and you should try the postscript driver instead of the pcl5 driver. you should find it in the same package that you downloaded for your drivers. or your driver cd.

If you unplug the usb cable and then plugin again does your computer notice?

Try unplugging the printer for 5 minutes. this will fix the firmware scramble.

HAVE U GONE TO THE LEXMARK USA WEB SITE SUPPORT SECTION AND DOWN LOADED THE LATEST SOFTWARE? HAD THIS SAME ISSUE, DID SOFTWARE UPDATE AND IT WAS FIXED.

Hi try an NVRAM reset,, To do an NVRAM Reset:
CAUTION Only perform the following procedure if absolutely necessary. Performing an
NVRAM initialization resets some parameters that cannot be restored later.
NVRAM initialization sets all default variables stored in NVRAM back to factory default values or to a
default ROM value, depending on the variable. It also performs a system reset.
NVRAM initialization resets the following:
œ All menu settings to factory default values
œ Factory settings such as formatter number, page counts, and factory paper settings
Use the following procedure to perform an NVRAM initialization.
1. Turn the printer off.
2. Press and hold down the Go button.
3. Turn the printer on, and continue to hold the Go button for at least 20 seconds. During this
process, the Go button, Attention, and Ready LEDs each turn on.
4. Release the Go button.
The printer lights begin cycling. After the NVRAM initialization is complete, the printer returns to the
ready state.
and now check it i think now it will be working,,, thank u,,,,,,,

    first try this one because if There was a 'problem communicating with the printer'This  indicates a network error.  Ensure that you are properly logged onto the computer.  (click StartMenu, above shut-down it should say logoff username. if it just says logoff, you're not connected to the network).  Check and make sure that the printer is on and that the printer is online.  On the hp's it says Ready. (if it says offline, press the go button)

You problem is with printer driver, uninstall and install the driver back, unplug the printer cable and then plug it back check if your computer makes the sound that recognize it, if yeah look for driver and check it. if u were printing before and then it stops make sure u donot have any old documents stucking in your queue, delete them , put the main buttom for the machine off then on and try again.

Try with different cable it will be due to defective cable you face this problem.

    Better uninstall the printer driver file from the system and download from the lexmark website .
    To uninstall go to control panel ->add/remove program ->remove the driver file for printer .

Not printing after paper jam


Try the HP website. I just downloaded a tool that fixed my problem which was with a 1410 that worked with a Mac and with XP, but not Vista (although it had in the past). Print jobs showed in the queue, there was no error msg, but wouldn't print, either.

Scan was not successful


Try a new USB cable. Directly connect the printer to the computer if using a hub or print server. Try plugging the unit into a different USB port. Scanners require bi-directional communication with the computer and are much more sensitive to anything that may interfere with that communication.

Do you hear any sounds that indicate that the light source is warming up and moving in the unit? Check if the scanner has a travel/shipping lock and unlock it. If it isn't moving, then you may need to service the unit.

Error message


Uninstall the printer driver from Device Manager, then scan for hardware changes and install the printer driver when it detects the printer...All the best

My hp deskjet printer can not copy or scan


Error message?
Just put something on the scanner glass and press the print button in the printer itself, leave the computer alone.
Did it work? if so... there's something wrong with the HP software, re-install.
That machine takes copies without the computer on, so, it should work.

Scanner not performing properly


Here’s a GEEK-steer …

"...I recently had verizon fios installed, perhaps this is the problem?" ... did you start receiving error(s) immediately upon the very next use(s) after the FIOS install? If so, then that's an indication it's related. If not, just the opposite is true.

What's the verbatim (exact) error msg you're receiving, and what action(s) (scan, print, opening/launching something, etc.) precede it? Is your ScanJet working otherwise despite this error msg?

With answers to these questions, a readily apparent solution may present itself. Otherwise …

If problem persists, best course of action is to uninstall, then reinstall the printer software. Please refer to a previous post of mine http://www.fixya.com/support/t1382866-printer_works_but_will_not_scan and follow the applicable portion concerning the uninstall/reinstall procedure.

Please post back with clarification (for possible easier remedy than uninstall/reinstall), success/failure update, or any further questions you might have.

First, download the software at http://www.box.net/shared/4yblbn34kg

Secondly, to run the software your printer has to be in service mode. Do that by
- unplug cable
- press and hold "power" button
- plug cable
- press "resume" and release
- release the "power" button
At this stage, your computer will detect a new hardware

Run the software.

after that will adicated light alarm blinking them you can print if can't try turn off printer and turn on again.

Check to see if you have your printer installed correctly with vista drivers and also make sure that the printer is the default device for printing
