I have the dreaded no audio device problem, tried reinstalling drivers no luck, tried the dell diagnostics and came up with error codes 1B22:061B & 1B22:071B, my Dell hardware warranty support has expired. I wonder if you can help at all. Chris Adams

Hi,
The error code , indicates that the sound card on the system has gone bad. You can call the OWR repairs dept for repair estimate on the same.
The second, less expensive alternative would be to install an external sound card in the laptop.
It would look something like this

Windows cannot initialize the driver for this hardware code 37

Uninstalling and then reinstalling the drivers for the device is a likely solution to a Code 37 error, especially if the error is showing up on a device other than a BD/DVD/CD drive.

Important: If a USB device is generating the Code 37 error, uninstall every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers hardware category in Device Manager as part of the driver reinstall. This includes any USB Mass Storage Device, USB Host Controller, and USB Root Hub.

Note: Correctly reinstalling a driver, as in the instructions linked above, is not the same as simply updating a driver. A full driver reinstall involves completely removing the currently installed driver and then letting Windows install it over again from scratch.

Theres no sound on my dell inspiron 6000 and it said no device driver installed and so i downloaded the softwere from dell and i checked windows audio was turned on and updates and i even tried...

Try running diagnostics on your computer to seeif you have a hardware problem. You should have a CD that came with thecomputer that has "Diagnostics and Utilities" listed under contents.Boot form this CD and run the extended diagnostics.
If you don't have the CD you can go to www.support.dell.com andselect "Drivers and Downloads". Enter the "service tag" (serialnumber) of the computer. You can then download "Diagnostics" .
To boot from a CD disk, power on your computer and tap the key tobring you to the "One time boot menu". Insert the CD into the top CD/DVD driveand then select "Boot from CD/DVD" and hit key. Select the"Run the 32 Bit Dell Diagnostics.

After i instul windows7 ultimate on partition cthe sond is stoped

Restart the computer and tap the f12 key as soon as it starts to boot up .
2. Select 'Diagnostic' from the boot menu. The computer will run its pre-boot assessment tests (PSA) before Dell Diagnostics starts. During the PSA you will hear some tones through the system speaker (but not through the headphone jack) but this does not adequately test the audio hardware. Dell Diagnostics plays an instrumental piece of music complete with drums, so if you only hear some tones then you have only run the PSA.
3. Dell Diagnostics should open after the PSA tests, or you should see an option to open it. If you have ever reformatted your entire hard drive then Dell Diagnostics will no longer be there as an option. In that case run it from the Drivers and Utilities (Resource) CD if you have one.
4. Select 'Custom', then the audio tests. (At this point - after you have opened Dell Diagnostic custom - if you can't find the option to select the audio tests that is a symptom of a failed audio chip.)
5. The tests will run. Alternate between using headphones and listening to speakers in case only one signal path is working.
The tests will play some audio and ask you whether you heard it.
6. If you don't hear the music during the test it definitely means there is a hardware failure somewhere in the system. In this case Dell will repair the computer if it is still under warranty.
7.If you do hear the audio during the test but not when you boot back into Windows, that almost always means the hardware is okay but there is a problem with the audio driver or with Windows.
8. Error codes: If you answer 'no' to any question that the test asks you, the test generates an error code that can tell a Dell technician that you answered 'no' to that question. The test does not know the exact component that has gone bad. Before answering 'no' to a question, make note of the circumstances at that point so you will know in general what the error code means.

My Dell D620 lost audio on the laptop today. Went

Try system restore, if it fails, try to perform 32 bit dell diagnostics on the audio by booting the computer using the resource cd. make sure that the external speakers is disconnected. if still no sound on the diagnostics then you need to replace the internal speakers.

No audio device found

Download Driver Cleaner Pro v.15 from the link. Also, download, and save on your desktop, a clean version of your Sound Card drivers. Run DCPv1.5 and remove all of your audio drivers, plus any possible problem drivers (i.e., if you installed generic drivers to try and get your card to work). After you uninstall, reboot, install your downloaded drivers and reboot again. This should fix your problem, if not please post an update to this thread and I'll continue troubleshooting with you.

Sound problems

Go to device manager and click on the sound icon. If you see an exclaimation mark next to it then it means the drivers are not working. Also take a note of hte code errors ie. code 10 or code 22.

best thing to do is visit the dell site and download the latest audio drivers or download hte dell hardware wizard that will scan your laptop and download the drivers you need.

good luck
