Question about Rancilio Silvia Espresso Machine
Every time I turn it on, it trips the circuit breaker of whatever circuit it is plugged into. This is true even when nothing else is plugged into the circuit. It also tripped 3 different circuit breakers that work perfectly with other appliances.
There is an electrical short within the machine, ...don't doubt it - the results of your experiments prove that it has an electrical fault and that your tripping circuits are doing exactly what they should to keep you and your property safe.
The machine needs servicing by a registered Rancilio electrician, don't go inside yourself, its highly likely that the part causing the tripping is dangerous and will need to be replaced.

Sorry to say but your boiler element is ruptured and needs to be replaced. You can do an ohms check across the element terminals and if its good you will get a reading of 12 to 16 ohms.

SOURCE: I have a Rancilio Silvia
use a voltmeter and check if you have continuity across the element terminals,(do this with macine unplugged and terminals off element. this will happen if something has cauased the element to fail. or check if you have a leak on top of boiler that is shorting out aomething.
