Question about HP Compaq Presario 6310US (DA201A#ABA) PC Desktop
My daughter set a power on password on her computer but forgets what it is... I have tried everything to figure it out... and yes she is blonde!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Most ppl don't read....this is a power on password problem, not a windows password. this is set in the bios. no cd at this point will help, system doesn't get far enough to even have a chance to boot.
compaq told me i have to replace motherboard, but there must be another solution...if anyone has anything useful for this problem, please post...

You can go to help and support and search password for more help but if you don't have a password disk or an administrator
account you will have to reinstall windows. (M.S. Windows passwords only) Please rate me mysleuth
For M.S. Windows only:
If you've forgotten your Windows password and you're on a domain, you should contact your system administrator to reset your password. If you're not on a domain, you can reset your password by using a password reset disk or by using an administrator account.
If you forget the administrator password and don't have a password reset disk or another administrator account, you won't be able to reset the password. If there are no other user accounts on the computer, you won't be able to log on to Windows and will need to re-install Windows.

I common problem :D.. You have to reset or crack the password with a socalled Live CD.. A kind of system/program running from a cd outside Windows..
You can try and download this, burn it to a cd and leave the cd in the computer and restart (You can use the program ImgBurn to burn it as a image):
When you have download it:
1. Load ImgBurn.
2. Switch to 'Write' mode.
3. Insert Disc in Burner.
4. Select Image to burn.
5. Click 'Write' button.
6. Restart computer with cd in it..
