Assuming that it has gotten progressively slower over time, suggests a blockage of food, labels, etc.
-the sometimes it will drain...sometimes will not results each time you run it...the food becomes dislodged...then catches within the drain...note...this is a good thing...it just has to be cleaned out everynow and again...which most of us do not do enough:(

This is not a difficult fix...but can be really gross to do.
The first time doing this is sorta-hard...but once you do it once, see how simple it really is....you will only not wish to do it because you know the goop you will find :)

  1. open dishwasher door
  2. lift out bottom rack....sorta put your head right inside....try not to put too much weight on the door as you do it...yes this is awkward :)
  3. look at the bottom of the DW and there will be a circular hard plastic mesh/drain (lots of little holes, and perhaps even a larger catching reservoir)
  4. these holes and the reservoir have likely become clogged with food residue/labels, etc
  5. here is the gross part....scoop this out...BE CAREFUL.....especially if you have EVER broken a glass in the dishwasher....as the glass is mixed in with this goop!
  6. If you are feeling really adventurous...you can actually remove the circular basket to more thoroughly clean it..ie. wash it in hot water..scrub...etc...this is the best..
  7. to do this...the lower arm must be removed
  8. generally they are held in place by the 'cap'...turn counter-clockwise...spins off
  9. lift off arm....observe how it came off...set it down exactly the same way on the floor
  10. now the circular mesh is accessable...held down with clips (often the mesh is more flexible than the clips...proceed carefully..as it is plastic
  11. list it out
  12. clean thoroughly
  13. replace
  14. REPEAT PROCESS every so often.....if you do it enough you can stop at #5
hope this helps

Dishwasher is rinsing and soap coming out but not washing what could be the problem

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

I do not know what model you have so I can only be general.

There are several reasons why your dish washer is not cleaning so I am going to give you two basics to start.

1.) If you have a filter, remove it and gently clean with soapy water.
2.) If you have a drain cover in the back, remove the two screws. Wearing gloves (There may be broken glass in the drain) reach down and remove any blockage. Siphon the water out. There is a metal plate at the bottom, this may be stuck open. You may be draining the soap and water out as soon as you fill.
3.) Your washer blades may be plugged up. Put 1/2 cup of white distilled vinegar in the bottom of your dishwasher. Run it on Hot & Heavy cycle.

There could other problems, but I need your model number

Frigidaire Dishwasher Professional Series runs loud now and the dishes aren't clean when it finishes its cycle.

Check the water supply line for kinks, check bottom strainer/drain inside to remove particles/trash blocking water from exiting to pump washer motor, be sure no items block rotation of washer heads. Good luck.

Just washing, not drying and cleaning. watter was not draining

Sounds like your drain is clogged. The drain should be located just below the blades inside the dish washer when you pull the lower rack out. If you can clean it from the top end, that could be a simply fix. Otherwise you'll need to pull the dish washer out and clean the drain from the bottom.

Also, check your Blower Fan to make sure it is still running.

There is water in the inside reservoir of the dishwasher!!!

The filter should be located at the bottom right front of washer, possibly behind a removeable plastic cover at bottom.
Unscrew anti- clockwise to remove and clean.
Hope this helps.

Water will not drain in whirlpool dishwasher

If you experience a problem where the washer does not drain properly or the drain pump makes excessive noise, here's the information you need to check the drain pump:

Symptom: PUMP IS RUNNING, BUT NOT DRAINING PROPERLY.

1. Unplug the washer while servicing inside the unit.
2. Remove the lower kick panel under the door by removing the three 7mm screws under the bottom edge of the panel. HINT: Use a couple of blocks of wood to prop up the front feet of the washer to gain better access to the screws. Once the screws are removed the panel should drop down, and then pull off. If the panel becomes stuck, a slight tap on either side will dislodge it.
3. Locate the drain pump. It will be located directly under the wash tub (it is the only pump this washer has).
4. There is an access removal cover on the pump that can be removed to clean out the trap. BEFORE doing this, it is strongly recommended that you remove all residual water from the wash tub & drain line or you will have about a gallon or so inside your washer and on the floor to clean up.
5. Here's a helpful way of quickly removing the residual water. If you own a wet/dry shop vac, remove the drain hose from the standpipe at the wall and pull a vacuum with the shop vac. This will empty the wash tub, pump and drain lines. If you don't own a shop vac, grab a bunch of old towels and open the access on the pump slowly so that it comes out at a trickle. Allow the towels to soak up the majority of the water. Close the access and stop the water if you need to get additional towels.
6. Open the pump access and remove once you have all the water drained. Check the drain pump for foreign objects and debris. Check the pump impeller and make sure there's nothing caught in it. Items as small as toothpicks or cotton swabs have been known to stop this pump from working.
7. Clean out the pump thoroughly and reinstall the access cover. Make sure the cover is snug, but do not over tighten.
8. Place the drain hose back in the standpipe (IMPORTANT - DO NOT FORGET!).
9. With the bottom panel still off, plug the washer back in and select the following on the operator console - DRAIN SPIN, NO SPIN, and then press any button under OPTIONS 4 times (it must be the same button). "C00" will show on the console display as the washer begins diagnostics mode.
10. Check the drain pump for leaks as the washer fills. The pump is gravity filled and will hold water even it is not pumping. Allow washer to run through diagnostics until it begins the wash tub tumble cycle.
11. At this point, you can stop the diagnostics procedure by pressing PAUSE/CANCEL 2 times. The drain pump energizes and the washer will begin to drain.
12. If the drain pump works normal and there are no leaks detected, reinstall the bottom panel and tighten screws.

NOTE: It is normal to have residual water left inside the wash tub under the wash basket. This is why it is important to leave the door ajar when not in use so this water does not become sour.

Why does my dishwasher not totally drain out? there is always about a half inch of water at the bottom after the complete cycle.

There is a float located inside the dishwasher that lets the washers control board know if the water is completely drained. It is a 3 to 4 inch diameter disk shaped float. It may have a dome cover over it the you will have to remove.
Make sure there is nothing trapped under the float and holding it up. You should be able to move the float up and down with you fingers.
Next, do you have an "anti-siphon" valve on the drain hose or siphon loop in the hose. Make sure both are functioning properly. Make sure the drain hose is clean and clear. If the hose is plugged or partially plugged it can cause the water to backup in the washer.
Check it out and let me know.
Regards,

Dish washer wont drain

HI. check the following areas for faults.

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.

Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt, because it is probably too stretched out.

3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly.

5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.

Replace the motor if defective.

6. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

Dish washer

The drain in to the garbage diposal is clogged.  Remove the drain hose from the dishwasher and clean the hose.  Also check the inlet to the garbage disposer and clena it.
