Question about HP Photosmart 3310 Printer

HP Photosmart d5460 Printer "Ink System Failure 0xc19a0023"

My printer is approximately 4 months old. I use it quite regularly for design work and to print dvd labels directly on discs.

This morning when I went to use the printer I got the error "Ink System Failure 0xc19a0023 Please turn the printer off and on".

Since then I have been online extensively to try and get the computer to work. I have downloaded and installed new drivers. I have turned the computer on and off for at least two minutes. I have removed all of the ink cartridges. I have never used anything but HP ink designed for this specific model. Regardless of what I do, this same error messages comes up with 10 seconds of me restarting the computer.

Let me know if anyone can help me.

You need to reset your printer. Do this: start>control panel>performance and maintenance> administrative tools> services: then scroll down until you come to print spooler, click on it and then in the left hand corner click on restart.
I do this whenever my printer gives me trouble, really works

I figured out how to solve the problem. I took off the print head from my printer then used my compressor to blow out the ink in each screen. At first it did not work but then a couple of days later I turned on my printer and after it went through the preparation process it printed the alignment page then everything worked again. I did contact HP though to get a new print head since my printer is still under warranty!

I want to print a label onto a DVD I am burning using my HP6180 All-in-one printer. Does anyone know how i can do it?

Your printer is not printing straight to a DVD, so you will have to buy self adhesive labels, print on them and then stick the label on the disc. Now, it all depends on what software you have available. Your might have software included with the Photosmart printer for CD/DVD label printing, check your installer CD that came with the printer. If you don't, and use Nero for burning DVDs, you may notice it has a label printing software that comes with it. You will need this type of software in order to print a label. If you don't have Nero, or any other label printing software you can try using some of the free ones that are out there, like Disketch 2.11. There's also a lot of free to try label printing software, like Acoustica CD DVD Label Maker which you can use for 15 days for free. If you have Photoshop and you're good using it, then this is another option to consider (you can download templates online).

Using a label printing software is pretty easy, most of them will have templates that you can open and just edit, or you can start with a blank design and add text and pictures to it. When you are finnished put the special label paper in the printer and click print. If you have special DVD labels make sure you specify that in the printing preferences before you print.

You've got an expensive unit (see below for Press Release), with a built-in CD/DVD reader/writer.
Given that your unit could be six years old, it's possible that the reader/writer has "died".

It seems to be a "stand-alone" unit -- not something that requires either Mac OSx or Windows XP/Vista/7 to operate.

I'm guessing that _ANY_ IDE (not 'SATA') HP-brand reader/writer, provided that it has a "LightScribe" capability, could be purchased, and could be inserted to replace the "dead" reader/writer. For about $100, it's worthwhile to try this "substitution" to revive your unit.

Sizing and Orientation problem on Zebra 140 Xill

As far as the size it sounds like it might not be using the right resolution these come in either 200 or 300 DPI. Make usre your DPI is set to the same as the printer. If the printer is 300 and the design shows 200 then it will print rather small on the label. Not sure about the other issue.

I have a HP Printer C5500 When I try printing something on the CD/DVD Directly I get a Error saying that the printer doesn't support printing directly on the CD while the Printer is meant to print on...

I'm confused.. Are you trying to print to a CD/DVD Drive? Try the print job again, and choose the C5500 as the print device.. Seems that there may be a problem with the print device set-up , and you may have to delete the printer, and reinstall it.

If the printer is designed to print a label on a CD / DVD. then you will have to use the programs provided to accomplish this, as it requires formatting parameters be sent along with the print request. I.E. You can not cut and paste directly to a CD / DVD printer..

HP C5580 print settings

Hey! I found this in a review site (can't remember)

"If you use Nero 7 Essentials to print CD/DVD labels, make sure you print just the page for the disc, and under print setup make sure you have CD/DVD 120mm under size and CD/DVD tray from source, then under Preferences set your calibration to -0.185" horizontal, -0.182" vertical, and you'll be golden."

I hope it helps!!

DVd label

All document printers with disc printing capabilities suffer from disc feed problems. It is an inherent design flaw that results from the machines original design to print documents. Loading discs to be printed must first "go around" the printer's paper feeding mechanism to accept discs. I got tired of using document printers to print labels on discs. I switched to a DiscPainter made by Dymo. It is a dedicated disc printer that was designed as such from the outset and not as an afterthought. It prints every bit as well as any document/disc printer but without the frustrating mis feeds. Although the Canon printer is great for documents its design limitations for disc printing are not easily overcome.
