That is an electronic control ice maker and possibly worked hard for the last few years. If the ice maker will not respond to the full arm or switch being on to empty the cubes about the only thing you can do is replace it=>WR30X0327 Ice Maker Assembly
I am here if you have questions, John Tripp Appliance 911 Contact me here.
When you see this happen can you feel the bottom of the ice maker to see if hot? What is the correct model number? I am trying to understand if it is the ice maker heating element is stuck on while heating the ice maker to release the cubes or if the water control valve is allowing the water to come in through the fill tube like a leaking faucet. Thanks, John Tripp Appliance 911
I am almost sure the model ice maker for your refrigerator is Click Here=> WR30X10093 and the model number for your refrigerator is GSS20IEPHWW or SS for Stainless. It sounds as if a bad connection on the ice fill arm. The truth is they are electronic and made in China along with most of the parts on your GE. I replaced mine that was the mechanical type with this same model number WR30X10093 and the mechanical lasted 15 years. If you manually can make it work one time and fills properly but after one cycle yet turns itself off my focus is on the ice maker. If you want to check OHM's to the dual water control valves they should both be about the same. Applying 120 volts to each side of the coils being water dispenser side and ice maker side will or should open them. But you just said that moving the arm that it will fill one time so I am back to the ice maker again. If water control valve for ice maker side did not work you would not be able to do that.
