Question about Toshiba Tecra 9100 Notebook

My Toshiba Tecra 9100 won't go into STANDBY MODE

I just bought a used toshiba tecra 9100... Wow, what a great machine, fast, wireless range fantastic... one problem, the unit NEVER goes into standyby mode, regardless if configured in the "power options" for the screen or drives to shut down after a specific timeframe, or when I flip down the screen.

The screen certainly turns off when I flip it down, but the unit continues to run, which of course drains power/baterries to zero!

Being a student on the run, stby mode is critical as I run from class to class.

I also note that when clicking on "START" then selecting "TURN off COMPUTER", I do NOT even get the option to Stand by.... (I see it, but icon is dim and not functional...

Can some one help !

What a work..... sry --
Find another Tecra 9100 and use that machine for spare parts.
They are very cheap today, 100 euro max second hand, perhaps without HD.
Its the system-board, a chip there.

Toshiba tecra 9100. No standby or hibernate functions

This means that your laptop does not have the display drivers installed. Check you check in the control panel, go to system icon and click on device manager? Check to see what VGA drivers are installed.

Do you see an esclamation mark?

Toshiba Tecra 9100; "output device error" message

No sound? The only solution I've found is to get a USB headset like the Logitech USB Headset 20. I have had this same problem with my Tecra 9100 for almost 6 months. I tried on a pair of USB Headset and it works! because it bypasses your internal soundcard. The downside is that if you have a great pair of speakers on your laptop, then it's kind of a waste that you can never use it. But at least, with this, you can now listen to CDs and chat on the internet
