I am trying to find a PS/2 wireless keyboard/pointing device combo that doesn't require any Windoze drivers to be loaded. The only one I've come up with so far is the Acer WIL-172 (and also the WIL-192--how are these different?). Has anyone actually used one of these with FreeBSD? What was your experience?
The problem I've had is with the pointing device--I bought 3 qtronix wireless keyboard/trackball combos; the keyboards work fine, but the trackballs either give no response at all, or send the pointer randomly all over the screen accompanied by random button clicks, along with various error messages from the psm driver. The theory I've come up with is that when the keyboard has all those strange "multimedia" buttons all over it, a driver may be needed for them AND for the pointing device.
The Acer WIL-172 doesn't have any of those buttons, and Acer doesn't supply a driver for it on their web site, so I *think* that it may be safe to use under FreeBSD.

I've used a couple of Logitech Cordless things. They don't complain. If they're PS/2, they should work as ordinary 'wired' keyboards. I've never had trouble with any Logitechs... I've just bought a Cordless Desktop Optical, and am looking forward to hooking it up to my FreeBSD box at home ...
