Philips steam iron no steam and red tap light is flashing even when filled up with water it's still getting hot and water is boiling but steam fiction not working as red light will not go out

It sounds like the flow holes are CLOGGED with scale inside. To clean it out:

1. Drain the water/steam out the pour-in shoot at the top of the handle, over the sink. Is any crap coming out?

2. Take some VINEGAR and pour it straight into the fill pour-in shoot. Don\'t dilute it. Fill up the IRON to full line. Let the vinegar SOAK the inside of the COLD iron for 15-20 minutes, by placing it FACE DOWN on an old bath towel, on a heat-resistant surface, such as a granite counter top, or metal cookie sheet. Don\'t put the towel on the ironing board!!! It may get stained badly. Let it sit, COLD for 20 minutes. You can swirell the vinegar around by shaking the iron.

Stand it up on its flat end, with the vinegar inside, still. Take some fresh vinegar and dip Q-tips into the vinegar and clean the slots and holes on the bottom plate. Any burn streaks or soil can be removed with wiping the plate with vinegar. After you clean all the holes and slots with vinegar from the outside, TURN ON THE IRON with the vinegar inside. The vinegar will heat up and should come out the holes. If any holes are not blowing vinegar/steam, clean them with q-tips again. Don\'t let all of the vinegar inside steam out!! Just heat it enough to make sure all of the holes are clean. Some white film may come out of the holes on to the face plate--it is calcium build-up from using tap water in the iron.

Now DUMP out vinegar inside the iron and reservoir through the pour-shoot You may see crud and crap coming out. Repeat the process of filling it up, steaming through the holes etc. until the vinegar comes out clear!!!

DON\'T use tap water in any IRON. Use distilled water, or even bottled drinking water (without flavoring, additives, of course). This will prevent corrosion and calcium build up in the iron.

ALWAYS completely drain the iron from the pour-in spout each time you are finished using it!! After pouring out the tank\'s water, you can set the iron to STEAM HIGH, and force any water inside to boil off and out of iron.! Never keep water in the reservoir or iron.

I set my iron, when hot, and done using it, with the pointed side DOWN in the sink drain to make sure it is dry.

So clean it with vinegar often, use bottled drinking water or better, distilled water and it will prevent this.

Coffee water won't flow

You probably have hard water deposits in the tubing. Run a couple tanks of vinegar through the machine on a brew cycle. Then flush with a couple tanks of water.

SAND LIKE SUBSTANCE COMING OUT OF IRON

Yes, there is a "Solution" you could use in the reservoir to remove the crud. First of all, STOP using tap water. What you have is mineral deposits inside your iron from using tap water. Use ONLY steam distilled water. I usually find this at my grocery store.
To clean out your iron, use white vinegar in your iron instead of water. This is to CLEAN the iron ONLY! Do NOT use to press cloths! And make sure the steam and/or water flow very clear (free from "sand", dirty water/steam or any other contaminates BEFORE using iron to press your cloths. You may need to flush the iron with water (remember, steam distilled ONLY) more than once to get all of the vinegar out.
Hope this helps...

Beans grind and are wet but coffee doesn't come out... it goes through the cycle and spits out a little. When cycle is complete, the water light comes on, but after priming the same thing occurs.

This tells me that either the grind is too fine and or the brew unit screen, and discharge tube needs to be cleaned. Try this first press the button for making a espresso using the manual function, do not add coffee through the door then press the brew button. If water flows freely then the grind is too fine, if you get the water prime error then the screen under the red o-ring on the brew unit needs to be cleaned.

During a 6 week trek in limestone country, we both noticed extensive white deposits in the tubes which impeded the flow of water. Assuming it was calcium carbonate, I have tried vinegar to dissolve it but...

The deposits may be a fungus that grows in camelbak, and other brands of, hydration systems due to sunlight shining on the wet plastic. It's possible that if you were using water containing lime that the lime has mixed with the fungus. To reduce the growth some systems have a black insulation which covers the drinking tube. There's a cleaning kit you can get which consists of 2 brushes, a narrow one for the tube and a larger one for the main water reservoir, and tablets which disolve or break up the fungus. You can get them at http://www.wiggle.co.uk/camelbak/cycle/hydration-system-spares/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=camelback%20cleaning%20kit&utm_campaign=camelbak&referid=googwig&utm_agroup=Camelbak%20-%20Hydration%20System%20Spares
or if you look on google for "Camelbak cleaning kit" you might find somewhere near you that sells them.

The fungus is not harmful but it does put a taste on the water and doesn't look very nice.

Water does not completely flow through

sounds like it is time to maybe do a descaling to the unit.
put about 1 cup of white vinegar in the water and let it do a cycle -- do it one more time and see if this clears it up,, then do 2 to 3 cycles of fresh water to clean out the vinegar. this should clean the unit to new working condition.
let me know if you are still having troubles -- as there are a few other things that might be causing the problem.
