I have a picture of one, can you tell me where you got the new switch, I need to replace mine.

The center lead goes under the white wire.
The two end leads both go to one of the brass connectors
The black wire goes to the other brass connector.

Note the "Tab" at the top

The white and black wires are the cord wires. Two off the switch should look bare (sliver), the other one off the swith should have black heat shrink tubing over it.

Actually, this is backward. The white wire is the NEUTRAL and is never switched. It's connected to the blade on the plug that is wider. It should come out of the power cord and go directly to the brass contact tab.

The black wire from the power cord is the HOT wire, and is connected to the narrow blade on the plug. It goes to the short moulded boss close to the alignment tab, seen top center in the photo. The center wire from the switch goes to the same point. Make sure that you place the flat sides of the crimps against each other, with the crimp barrels facing away from each other.

The two end wires from the switch, one short and bare, the other long and covered with black heat-shrink tubing with a small bump in the middle, goes to the other higher boss and the other brass terminal. Again, make sure the flat faces of the ring terminals are together with the barrels facing away from each other.

You may want to bend the motor terminals (not the ones in the end cap, but the ones on the end of the motor body that face the end cap) up a little bit to make sure they'll contact the brass contacts in the end cap when you reassemble it. If the motor won't start when you reassemble the cap to the motor, this is almost certainly the problem.

For the safety and technically minded, the reason the white neutral wire is never switched is because it is the zero-volt return wire. It is connected to ground at the supply. The black wire is connected to the ungrounded side of the supply. If you switch the neutral instead of the hot, then when you switch the unit off, the motor is still 'live'. If you attempt to remove a brush in this condition with the clipper plugged in you will almost certainly get a shock. BTW, you should never remove the brushes with it plugged in! Always switch the HOT wire!

Blade change problem & no info in enclosed instructions

Hi A5 blades are not made to be unscrewed. They are snap on blades. You can call 800-830-3678 which is Oster Direct consumer service. They will walk you though the process or you can send them back to Oster and they will put them back together and realign them for you. Hope that helps.

Looking for switch wiring diagram for Oster Golden A5 two speed clippers..Replaceing switch and unsure of connections..

You must put the new one in exactly as the old one came out. Sorry, no diagrams unless you are an authorized dealer. Most of our repairs are common sense. No books. My husband just replaced mine today. Plus one clipper wasn't the switch as I thought, but was a broken wire in the cord near the clipper that kept shorting.
