Question about Husqvarna 26" Front Tine Tiller

Rototiller will not start

Last fall I was tilling happily away when my Atlas model 12-B150 front tine tiller suddenly stopped. It has a 3 hp Briggs and Stratton engine. It was suggested to me the shear pin was broken. It appears to be fine. I switched the spark plug but it still does not start. It has fuel in the tank and turns over easily when I pull the start cord. Also when changing the oil, how much does it take? I purchased this used and do not have an owner's manual. Thanks.

    This is Paul with the rototiller problem. I have not been able to see a spark at the sparkplug or where it connects. The engine is a 127cc 3 hp Model 80202 Type 1080-01.Thanks for any help you can give me.

    Never saw the add a comment before. I replaced the points and condenser. It started but before reaching full speed, the shear pin went. I replaced it, made sure everything was tight and it went again. The tiller does turn over easily and the flywheel does not seem to be hanging up on anything. Any suggestions?

    have you checked the spark plug for spark? if you have a clean spark plug and you are still not getting spark, it could be a couple of things. let me know if you have spark at the spark plug, then I can help you a lot more from there. also, if you could get me the model and type number of your engine off of the flywheel cover to the engine, that would help out a lot.

Paul i assuming you mean the motor stopped running,not the tiller part........? you say the motor turns over easy,suggesting that the motor hung a valve open and you have no compression in the motor.i'm hoping that you checked the oil level before you started and ran the engine. oil level is at the second thead down from the top of oil fill hole. if it was any lower the that you could have ran the motor low of oil causing one of the valves to stick. never had much luck on cleaning the valve stem or valve guide in the head,usualy you need to replace the head assy. they do come as a unit but they are pricey. take the valve cover off and see if both valves will push down into the cylinder. also see if one or the other valves are lower then the other. if you need more help i'll be glad to help you out as much as possible.......

Briggs and stratton quantam 6.5 hp fires but will not run

Check for a clogged air filter.Try starting it without the air filter installed. Check for loose wires to the spark plug and ground. I am assuming there is gas in the tank, but does it get to the carb? Check the gas line, is it blocked? Is the carb leaking?

My Earthquake Rear Tine Gas Rototiller - 196cc Viper Engine 4-cycle just makes a squeeling noise and tines won't rotate.

Sounds like the belt is slipping. Have you removed the belt cover and inspected the belt and the tensioner pulley ? If your model is like mine the tension can be adjusted just below the handles by looseneing the nut where the cable goes into the cable sheath and moving the cable cover further away from the handle. That takes up some slack and will make the tensioner pulley tighter on the belt. If the belt is shot tension isn't going to help.
Try "google" with "earthquake 5070 manual" first option should be a PDF copy of a model 5070 manual. Will have diagrams on how to adjust the cables.

If you cant move the tines by hand then I wouldn't think you sheared the pins, more like a gear box problem.

Tines stop under load

you have to get someone with a big tractor to "break" the ground up first. A tiller is just that...Not a plow
