I was also directed elsewhere to finding out the bios maker of my computer and checking their beep code. Award was the bios and one long beep can point to memory problems. I was told to reseat the memory strips and after doing that, at least so far, no more beeps. But over time we will have to see as the problem was not constant.

I appreciate your info as well and did the defrag tho my comp. does auto defrag.

It certainly does sound that way.

Download Speed Fan and check your hard-drive's SMART readout. If it looks bad, back up your files and be prepared for the worst. If however the readings look fine, try defragmenting your system with the assistance of the free trial of O&O Defrag. Running the Complete/ACCESS defrag method will ensure that your files can be read as quickly as possible by the hard-drive without all the fragmentation.

NOTE: You may have to defragment more than once before this issue is cleared up. Severely fragmented hard-drives are never fixed with the first defragmentation.

Let me know if I can help you further, I certainly do hope things turn out good for you.

My dell inspiron 1525 wont even come on when i press the start button, nothing?

Hi Jerrel Castille,

Request you to try following the below steps which might help:

    (1)Turn off the computer.
(2)Remove all the external peripherals like AC Adaptor, flash drives, battery, etc.
(3)Press and hold the power button for 30sec which releases the static on the computer (if any)
(4)Put back the battery and plug in the AC Adaptor.
(5)Let the computer charge for some time.
Now try turning on the computer. If still same issue then check if there are any series of beep codes emitted from the computer and see if there is a Power/ Battery status light glowing near the front (touchpad) of it.

Where is the small pinhole located on the Dell Inspiron 531 S Model

The only small pinhole in this small form factor computer should be in the front of the c/dvd drive. You might be able to get to it by opening the spring loaded door in front of the drive. It's possible the hole might be obscured by the computers front bezel, in which case you would need to disassemble the front of the computer to get to the small pinhole.

I have the hp inspiron 531s.Can i burn cd or dvd??

Yes your computer has a DVD writer... It should have the software to burn DVDs and CDs

The Dell Inspiron 531 is a desktop personal computer with a Microsoft Windows operating system. An Inspiron equipped with a CD burner can be used to record audio discs using Windows Media Player, which comes installed on the Inspiron as a standard part of the software package Dell loads onto its computers. Blank, recordable discs and pre-recorded audio CDs are the only supplies needed for the project.

Inspiron 531s will not boot up, keeps beeping, saying it is in power save mode. How do I fix the problem

System Beep Codes The Inspiron™ 531 / 531s system can emit a series of beeps during start-up if the display cannot show errors or problems. These series of beeps, called beep codes, identify various problems. One possible beep code consists of repetitive three short beeps. This beep code indicates the computer encountered a possible system board failure.
The series of beeps has a 3-second delay before it repeats. The series and delays continually loop until you press the power button.
Code Description Suggested Remedy 1 BIOS ROM checksum in progress or failure System board failure; covers BIOS corruption or ROM error 2 No memory modules detected
  1. If you have two or more memory modules installed, remove the modules, reinstall one module, and then restart the computer. If the computer starts normally, reinstall an additional module. Continue until you have identified a faulty module or reinstalled all modules without error.
  2. If available, install a good memory module of the same type into the computer.
  3. If the problem persists, contact Dell.
3 Chipset error (North and Southbridge chipset, DMA/IMR/Timer Error for Intel® platform); chipset error System board failure. Power LED is blinking amber. Time-Of-Day Clock test failure Gate A20 failure Super I/O chip failure Keyboard controller test failure 4 RAM read/write failure
  1. Ensure no special memory module/memory connector placement requirements exist.
  2. Verify the memory modules you are installing are compatible with the computer.
  3. If the problem persists, contact Dell.
5 Real time clock failure. Possible battery failure or system board failure.
  1. Replace the battery.
  2. If the problem persists, contact Dell.

Inspiron 531 freezes

You have to do some maintenance cleaning and check up. Both hardware and software. As this age usually two years. One common failure is the harddrive. You should get some backup procedure. As for software you may do the following. 1. Registry cleaning (Ccleaner is good but be careful also) 2. Application cleaning, uninstalling those program not needed in the system. 3. Log and history cleaning. 4. Defrag is good. 5. And virus scanning it also one of the major cause of system freezes. 6. And unloading some files (back it up then unload) As for hardware. You may do some dusting or reseating. Usually the CPU fans and system fans and its airways.
