Formatting a drive means resetting it to manufacturer settings
And deleting everything in there, this solves most of hard
Disk problems, mp3s ipods ect..

if its powering on without being connected to anything do the following. connect it via usb cable to your pc, or if it’s a hard drive its already connected. click on start, right click on my computer and go to manage in the table select, "storage" then "disk management" in that table find the drive that relates to your mp3 player or hard drive if its not there "buy a new mp3/ hard drive" this is faulty" if its there then right click on it and select "new partition" you just next next everything and then format it and after a while it shows "healthy2 unplug it, plug it back on and that's it your drive is fully working now move what ever you want to it just like before.

Says there was a format error has music on it but won't play

Hi,

The Format Error will get displayed in the Walkman Player when the unit is Formatted using the format utility in windows explorer or with other internal malfunction.
To resolve the issue, try resetting and then perform the Formatting the In-built Memory option in the Walkman player.
To reset the Walkman, press the RESET button near the USB Jack for more than 1 second with a thin instrument such as a paper clip.
If the issue persists, FORMAT the Walkman.
To FORMAT the Walkman, press and hold the MENU button in Stop mode until the SEARCH Menu appears.
Then, use the control Jog to select Advanced Menu and press > VOL to confirm.
Again, use the control jog to select FORMAT and press > VOL to confirm.
Now, select OK and press > VOL to confirm.
Formatting appears and starts formatting the Walkman.
When the Formatting complete, COMPLETE appears.
Press the > VOL button to return back to the playback screen.

After Formatting, download the MP3 File Manager Application to transfer the songs from the Computer to the Walkman.
This will resolve the issue.

Recently i formatted my laptop (Dell latitude c400). i installed fresh copy of windows XP. i finished the installation but when i open it again after i turned it off, i think it crashed (i hear the start...

You would probly want to completely reformat and reinstall your copy of XP, if it is already crashing on a fresh copy, it most likely didn't install correctly. Make sure you format first. You can do this before you run your installation. Reboot your computer and hit f8, select the option that says command prompt with networking. when the screen comes up with the C: type in there vol you will need the volume label to format, it will display this for you and make a note of it. At the next C: type in there C: format it will ask you to enter the volume label, do this and hit enter. It will then ask you if you are sure you want to delete all data, type y and hit enter. It will go through the format process. Enter your XP cd into the drive and reboot your computer, you should now be able to reinstall windows with no previous errors or versions already installed. Hope this helps!

I conected external speakers and i can't control the volumen

the external speaker vol will be controlled only from the master vol on screen (driver controlled)...or from the amplifier from the speakers....you might try to choose the output from the driver settings...but I still do not think you will be able to control the vol from the laptop buttons..the out signal does not route via the laptop internal amplifier ..and this is the issue ...but Im not sure and I will study the model for you ..and brb ..

Corrupt playlists

Connect the player to the power supply and PC.

Press and hold [Vol +] & [POWER] until player resets.

As soon as the screen goes blank, release [Vol +] & [POWER] and press and hold [Vol -].

Player should show the connection screen, but without the status line at the top

PC will recognise the player as a removable drive.

Once the PC says that the device is ready to use, open My Computer and player should be in the list. (GoGear)

Right click on the player and select format.

Tick the "Quick Format box" and make sure the format is FAT32, and click start.

When the player has formatted, safely remove, and power up. You will get an error message on the player saying "connect to PC".

Connect to PC normally and repair with Device Manager.
