Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

My tv has become mute. Is this problem due to volume Ic failing.

I have checked by a private engineer of authorised agency. He is saying the sound IC has been failed and charging RS 2200 for sound IC. My consern is that is he charging right or wrong.

What is the exact number of that IC? The amount quoted here is too much I thinks.

SOURCE: No power

The D1541 is a horizontal output transistor, not an IC. Your problem is definatly a bad flyback transformer.

Zenith B25A76R CRT TV howling sound from speakers

It sounds that there is some solder problems in the audio output section circuit. Loose solder terminals can poise this type of problem. Check it first. Re-solder all the suspected solder terminals by applying a little more solder. If this do not help you, just do as your suspect ion. Replace all the electrolytic capacitors at the audio output section circuit. IC too should be suspected. Check the seating or IC with its heat sink for tightness. If it is loose, the IC will overheat with time, the the fault you report here can occur. Check all of this. Good Luck.

I have a 27" Toshiba television, I'm having problem with the sound. I've changed the sound output but nothing happen. Please help.

Hi
Jennifer Castillo

Here are some possible locations where to look to :
( Since I have no model for your TV or additional details which you have
replaced)

a) switching IC ( these IC switches the TV to Audio Video In)

b) muting circuits ( there could be one )

c) Check the audio out coming from the Jungle IC (also unknown)

d) check the supply lines of the audio IC (could be +12V, typical)

e) Check the headphones out (if available)

If there is an audio Out, connect an external amp to test.

If audio is present , check again for solder joints to main amp.

Use these as a guide in troubleshooting :

Computer Speakers

Your input is the Jungle IC, search on line for datasheet about it.

same with your Switching IC and Audio IC.

On some audio IC, volume control is included on it.

Let us know what you find or needs further assistance.

RCA Tru Flat 20" TV/DVD Combo Remote and manual

Hi
Check its speaker first. If it is Ok, check whether the volume is set to zero, or mute function is ON. If all of the above is OK, the audio output IC of your tV is faulty. You ahve to replace it with same type and number. Audio IC can be located by following the speaker wire. One end of that wire will go to oudio output section. There will be an IC; usually screwed on to a metal heatsink. Check its solder terminals first, for any loose soldernng. It is best to resolder all the solder terminals of that IC, by applying a little more solder, without making any solder bridge in between adjecent solder points. If this resoldering also does not help you, check the voltage at the pins of that IC. The maximum voltage will be between 25 and 24VDC. If the voltage also is there, and still there is no sound, replace the IC with same type and number, provided the speaker is good. OK.

Sharp LC-60LE810UN. the sound all of a sudden cut out on the tv. everything on the tv seems to be working just fine. but there is no volume at all.

hi,
You have to check three things.
1. Check is the mute function is ON or not. For that press the mute button on the remote.
2. Check the speakers of you tv. For that you have to open the tv. For testing the speaker you need a multimeter. Check the coil continuity of the speaks. it should be 4 ohms or 8 ohms. If there is no continuity then change the speaker with a new one. If the continuity is ok then
3. You have to check the audio output amplifier IC ( integrated circuit). For finding out the audio amplifier ic which one it is, just follow the wire from the speakers. Its other end will ends in the socket near the audio output IC. It will be fitted on a aluminum heat sink (radiator)
To replace the IC you need soldering ion, desoldering pump, solder etc.
the part number will be written on it. you have to purchase the same part with the same part number.
ok

Volume goes up by its self

Hi

There are basically tho type of IC in the TV

Video IC and Sound IC or you can say two section.

since your voice section is affected so there are two possible reasons for that the main sound IC will be faulty

or

the amplifier IC connected to it will be faulty. So please check with repair person located near your locality and never try to open the TV at home at it contain some parts which will give strong electric shock

Vipin

Have picture no sound did a reset nothing

Hello,

The reason you have pictures and no sound might be as a result of a sound IC or that the volume is too low or on mute.

First check the volume to see if it is okay or on mute then correct that but if it is not, then it is a faulty sound IC that is causing it, so try to dismantle the television and replace the sound IC.

Then the television would be in good conditions once again.

Take care

change the audio ic it has a short within.this will restore your set to normal dont forget to make checks in that same circuit as there might be resistors, diodes or caps that had contributed to the failure of the ic.good luck.
