Question about Apple iPod MA446LL/A MP3 Player

1 Answer

ITunes sees 80GB video as 183GB and shows full of "other" data

When I plug my 80GB iPod video/classic into iTunes, it shows up as having a 183.96GB capacity and the summary indicates 153.92GB of "Other" with 141.5MB of audio and 29.91GB free. Obviously this is wrong. It has about 29GB free, but until I did the factory "restore" to try to solve this, I had about 55GB of audio, and a bit of video, and a couple of games. When I check my computer management, it is recognizing the iPod with the appropriate letter drive (which I have had to change in the past). Usually I can get the system to finally recognize my iPod as the 80GB but not this time. Any idea what the problem is and how to fix it? I have tried changing USB ports but to no avail.

80GB ipod classic says only 45KB or 65kb or 80kb of memory free and takes 15 minutes to be recognised by my computer. All of a sudden this is a problem. Also, when it is recognised in tunes it says 64GB free, but the settings on the ipod indicate that there is 64GB of "OTHER"....what is the OTHER? I've deleted the metadata_never_index_ file as instructed by another apple site, but it made no difference. Amateur, but not stupid......any feedback anybody. Need this ipod working asap for recording music students and rehearsals.....help!

How to download songs from computer to Apple ipod classic 80GB

You're going to need iTunes to do this, download it here. Once you've done this you can import all your music and videos to iTunes, and then use it to put your media onto your iPod.
Hope this helps!
