Question about Car Audio & Video

Open Question

I had a kenwood DPX-U5130BT stereo installed into my 2006 toyota corolla. The plastic dash surround is not clipping in because the stereo is sitting out too far. Is there any way I can sink the stereo in deeper so the plastic will fit over the top or is the hole for the stereo too shallow?

The iPod will stop itself from charging when the battery is full, and will not overcharge. I'm pretty sure you can't disconnect the power to the iPod (would stop it from charging) and still use the Audio to your stereo.

SOURCE: UNLOCK SECURITY CODE

for your kdc-mp528 will work whith code KCAR entered from the remote

Common Kenwood Security Codes
Many Kenwood radios are configured with the same security codes:

KCAR - This seems to be a "backdoor" to some Kenwood models.
3051 - This is the security code which is printed in the manual of many Kenwood models.
1234 - This is a security code commonly chosen by Kenwood owners.
Entering Your Kenwood Security Code
If the car battery fails or is disconnected, the Kenwood will ask for the security code.

The procedure to enter your security code differs on various models of Kenwood car stereos. Here are three of the more common procedures:

Type 1
During the code request mode, while holding the DISP key depressed, press and hold the Volume UP or DOWN key for 3 seconds until the "..." display disappears.
Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote.
Type 2
Press and hold the "Auto" button and "Track up" (next track button on the right) on the face of radio at the same time until the four dash lines disappear.
Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote.
Type 3: Model# DPX-4020 and DPX-4030
Press and hold the 1 then the 6 preset keys until the display shows the letter 'C'.
Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote.
Entering Letters on your Kenwood Remote
To enter a letter using your Kenwood remote, press a button once for the first letter, twice for the second letter, and three times for the third letter -- then press the Track Up or Next Track key to send the letter.

To send the letter 'A', press the 2 key once and then press the Track Up key. To send the letter 'B', press the 2 key twice and then press the Track up key.

Finally, when you are done entering all of the letters, press and hold the Track Up button for 3 seconds.

The key sequence to enter the security code KCAR is:

5
5
Track Up
2
2
2
Track Up
2
Track Up
7
7
Track Up
Your Kenwood should then enter tuner mode.

A Security Code Bug in some Kenwoods
There is a reported bug in the security code handling of some Kenwood stereos. In models with thie bug, the security code is stored incorrectly. The workaround is to enter the wrong security code.

In models with this bug, you have to decrement the third character of the security code by one. If your security code was 1111, you would enter your security code as 1101. If your security code was 9999, you would enter 9989.

i hope this works for you.

When you hooked it up you didn't hook up the right wires because there is 12volt constant wire that keeps the unit to save things so when you turn it off it's not getting any power at all so it just resets

Remove kenwood kdc-mp145 from 1998 Corolla

Step 1:

The radio is secured to the frame of the vehicles dash, with screws located behind the plastic dash panel (surrounding the radio).

This plastic dash panel unsnaps from the body of the vehicles dash.

Step 2:

The bottom of the plastic dash panel, just below the bottom of the radio, can be lifted up.

Look up from the below the radio and you will notice rectangular openings or insertion points where a flat tool can be inserted to pry out the bottom of the plastic dash panel.

With a flat head screwdriver or other flat object, pry out the bottom of the plastic dash panel.

Step 3:

Once the bottom edge of the plastic dash panel has been pulled out, the sides of the plastic dash panel will begin to separate from the body of the vehicles dash.

You will now be able to put your fingers into the openings on the sides of the plastic dash panel. Gently pull the plastic dash panel until it unsnaps from the body of the vehicle's dash.

Step 4:

Once all the clips on the plastic dash panel have been unsnapped, the dash can be pulled out.

The top of the plastic dash panel will have wires attached to the clock, hazard and defrost switches. You do NOT need to unplug the connectors plugged into them.

Move the plastic dash panel up and set it on top of the body of the dash.

Step 5:

The radio is held in with four (4) phillips screws / 8 mm bolts.
Remove the screw/bolts.

Pull the radio forward.

Unplug the antenna cable, and 2 white connectors from the rear of the radio.

Step 6:

If installing a different radio to your Corolla, buy a "snap on" adapter loom which eliminates the need for cutting any wires (Toyota --> New radio brand), from your local auto accessory store.

GOOD LUCK !!!

How do i take out my radio from my toyota corrola

The Toyota Corolla has been around long enough that many owners find themselves needing to replace the factory stereo. Installing a new stereo in the Toyota Corolla gives improved sound and updated features. Swapping out the stereo in the Toyota Corolla takes basic tools and less than an hour. This article covers models from 1990 to 2000.

Open the hood and remove the negative battery cable from the terminal. Apply the parking brake and place the car in "D."

    > Remove the trim from around the stereo by prying with your fingers at one corner. Some early models have two screws at the top of the trim piece to remove first. Allow the trim to hang on the drivers side of the dash if it's connected to the cigarette lighter.
    > Locate and remove the four screws holding the stereo in place. Pull the radio out of the dash and disconnect the wires from the back of the head unit.
    To install
    > Connect the wiring harness adaptor to the original harness and let it hang from the dash. Slide the new stereo into the Toyota radio mounting kit, which is a thin metal cover and secure it per the manufacturer's instructions. Most adaptors have screws to hold the stereo in place, however some have clips, which engage automatically.
    >Plug the wiring harness adaptor and antenna wire into the back of the new head unit and push the entire assembly into the dash. Reconnect the negative battery cable and turn the radio on.
    > Ensure all of the stereo controls and speakers are working. Secure the radio in the dash with the original four screws and replace the trim.

How to remove radio from 1990 cs corolla

I understand you remove the panel and then for a
1990, it has a handle and you simply pull it straight out.
---
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. CAUTION
On models with an airbag, wait at least 90 seconds from the time that the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the battery is disconnected before performing any further work.
  2. Remove the attaching screws from the trim panel.
  3. Remove the trim panel, being careful of the concealed spring clips behind the panel. Remove the trim panel surrounding the stereo 88276p31.jpg

  4. Disconnect the wiring from the switches if so equipped mounted in the trim panel.
  5. Remove the mounting screws from the radio. Remove the four radio retaining screws and pull the unit from the dash 88276p32.jpg

  6. Remove the radio from the dash until the wiring connectors are exposed.
  7. Disconnect the electrical connectors and the antenna cable from the body of the radio and remove the radio from the car. To install:
  8. Reconnect all the wiring and antenna cable first, then place the radio in position within the dash.
  9. Install the attaching screws.
  10. Reconnect the wiring harnesses to the switches if so equipped in the trim panel and make sure the switches if so equipped are secure in the panel.
  11. Install the trim panel (make sure all the spring clips engage) and install the screws. Conmnect the negative battery cable.
  12. Check radio system for proper operation.

Removing the dash board

Hello, on most corolla's I have done, the black plastic shroud unscews from around the speedo/dash cluster and also includes the hazard/breakdown switch. The black plastic then comes out with stereo attached(usually)so be careful not the crack the plastic surround. In most cases you will not need to remove steering wheel but it will give more room to work with,if it is removed.Hope that helps.
