have you tried with a different network card? if no try with a different card. if it does not recognise it go to control panel and to add new hardware. follow the on screen procedure and see if it will see it.
If problem still persists, try doing a clean copy of OS

There shouldn't be any issues if the network connection worked with the integrated NIC. Maybe you just managed to purchase a defective replacement card. The other possibility is that you didn't disable the onboard network hardware in the computer BIOS settings. There may be some conflicts since the motherboard is trying to address both of them. Make sure the onboard NIC is disabled, and try another PCI card if you still have problems.

SOURCE: The on board LAN network is not work, System

1 - simple test: connect the pc to a switch using another piece of cable and look at the led on the switch corresponding to the cable - if it doesn't light up when you plug the cable in the pc then the onboard LAN is fried. Unrepairable, get a new PCI one.
2 - that board has a VIA KM 266 chipset that has only one channel of memory that can be either DDR266 or PC133 SDRAM.

Need to know which style of m b I have is it an atx

The difference between ATX and MicroATX is the size. An ATX board will usually have 6-7 slots to add cards like video, network or sound cards. An ATX board will also usually not have a video port on the board. A MicroATX board will usually have only 3-4 slots to add cards into it, at least one of which being dedicated to AGP or PCI Express Video cards.
To answer your question: That computer uses a MicroATX board. A Micro ATX board will most likely work in any PC Case whereas an ATX board requires an ATX size case (Mid or Full size Tower).
