Voltage regulator, rotor, or stator are at fault here. Flash the fields F1 and F2 to see if you can produce voltage. Flashing consists of connecting positive from a battery (9V or 12Vdc) to F1 and negative to F2 while genset is running. If voltage increases, then you will need a voltage regulator. If voltage does not increase, then you will need a new generator end.

Always use ONLY fresh fuel... (page 32 of owners manual) it is very easy to forget about because HONDA is such an awesome machine... but EVEN MORE LIKELY...

Check that the gas cap vent is not blocked and is working properly for one thing. Also check the oil level most honda engines have a low oil shut down feature.

Honda 5000 generator with remote starter running rough.. tis like ******* or something.. oil was almost empty so i stopped generator and added oil and restarted.. can u give some advice as to how to remedy...

Those generators are set up with a low oil saftey but your gonna want to check compression anyways just to verify it is where it needs to be. Im gonna guess its to be between 120-160 psi, check your manual for the service limits. after that check your air filter, valve lash, fuel filter etc etc.

Oil alert or the module where the oil alert wire plugs in to could be faulty. You can remove all the wires at the coil for test including the kill switch wire (always use a new spark plug for test, then place the new plug in stroage for later use). I test the coil off the engine on a growler. If the oil alert components are faulty, do not repair. Just check the oil more often. Good luck

Generator runs for about 10 minutes and then stops like it is running out of fuel. 5500 NorthStar with Honda motor. Waned fuel tank and lines, had carb. Rebuilt and cleaned all out with carburetor cleaner....

It appears you have eliminated all of the fuel related issues. That would leave the generatoor safety circuits as a possible reason for the unit shutting down.

The Low Oil Level Sensor is the major reason that generators shut down when your sure there is not a fuel supply problem. Make sure the unit is fully servied with OIL. If the problem persists disconnect ONE wire from the low oil level sensor and see if the problem persists. If you still have the problem inspect the black or green wire from the Start run switch all the way to the Air shroud on the engine looking for signs of chaffing.
If you can not find anything then you will have to re-focus your attention on the fuel system once again. If you have a solenoid on the base of the carb.. the solenoid can be WEAK and stop remaining open once hot. This will cause the engine to lean out and die.
You should also check fuel flow to the carb. The flow should fill a spary paint can lid in under 10 seconds to the point your worried about it overflowing. Most honda engines have a metal sediment bowl under the fuel selector. Remove the sediment bowl and dump the contents. Check fuel flow again.
- Carb. With the float bowl removed fuel selector ON check fuel flow again by holding a spray paint can lid under the float. It must fill up in about 10 seconds to the point your worried about over-filling the lid. If you do not have a good flow rate here the float needle float needle rubber seat and the fuel manifold are the prime suspects.

Hi i have a honda EC4000 wiv a gx270 engine and need to know how to get genset off so i can strip an rebuild engine but cant find a way in to end of crank ?? Help please

Remove bolts holding the end bell with field winding being careful not to break carbon brushes. Pull off the stator section and set on workbench being careful not to damage windings. Remove the long bolt at the center of the rotor on the crank of the engine. Now you will need to apply penetrating oil between the shaft of the engine and the rotor to loosen the rust on the tapered part of the shaft. It may take several applications. Place a piece of hardwood against metal to protect the rotor and firmly rap with hammer on both sides. You may need to use pry bar against engine and rotor as you hammer hardwood. Repeat as necessary, some rotors will be very stuck due to rust. Use caution not to damage rotor or windings. Good luck.
