An IP camera is a video camera that can be viewed over a Local Area Network or the Internet. The camera typically is monitored locally from a computer via the network to which the camera is attached. With just a few additional configurations of your network, you can access the IP Network Camera so that it can be monitored remotely using the Internet. This is the benefit of a network camera, as it can reside on an IP network and the video stream can be accessed or saved remotely.

Get the Default Gateway of your IP. Do this by entering "ipconfig/all" in your Command Prompt and hitting "Enter" on your keyboard. Your IP information will be brought up, and number you are looking for is the Default Gateway. This is underneath the IP address. Identify this number by its number pattern, which will look like the following: 111.222.3.4. Access your router. This is done by simply typing the default gateway from Step 1 above into the address bar of your Internet browser, and pressing "Enter." Forward your port by configuring your camera. Open the configuration section on the router web page where port forwarding is located by clicking on the "Applications & Gaming" link along the top of the page. In this menu, click on "Port Range Forwarding." Configuration sections can be located differently with each kind of router. Find this information by referring to the documentation that came with your router when you purchased it. Access your camera over the Internet. To do this, type your public IP address into the address bar of the web browser and press "Enter" in the same way as described in Step 2 when entering your default gateway. Note: The public IP address is different from your regular IP address. The regular IP address identifies computers and other devices on your network, whereas your public IP address is what is used to make yourself known to others on the Internet. Your Internet service provider can supply you with your public IP address if you call them and ask for it.

Why would the ethernet internet connection not work - but the wireless connection would?

You might be out of IPs in the router. There's a setting where you can allow a set amount of IPs (like 5 or 10 devices). If the IP is 169.x.x.x it means the TV didn't get an IP and the laptop working means that it already has an IP designated in the router.

Anyway, go into the router settings and look for the "IP scope" and increase it by 5-10 and save it, then try again.
Usually home routers have a default setting and all devices get a similar IP (wireless and wired alike), so I would venture to guess that you are out of them, what with cell phones, laptops, tablets etc.

My wireless connection to my Sharp smart tv works - but the wired connection does not. Should the two IP addresses be the same or different for wired and wireless?

For the same hardware on your system the IP address needs to be the same, no matter how its connecting to the router. Also check your available IP addres range on the router. The IP address must be within the routers IP address range or it will not see it.

Diffrent between Dynamic&static ip address

Static IP address is usually a single IP address provided by the ISP to you, which can be configured so that you can run a web server (host web sites etc), or access your home computer from any where in the world ( your computer and internet should be on ).

Dynamic IP address is usually IP address provided by the ISP to your DSL modem / computer (for dialup modems) for that internet session, next day or next time you connect the IP address will be a different one. (usually home internet connections are Dynamic IP based.

In a typical home environment if you have one wireless adaptor and planning for a wireless repeater its better to configure dynamic IP address in the repeater (so that you repeater will acquire IP address from the wireless adaptor)

My IP address on my wireless router does not match the one displayed on my wireless device (iPhone). The phone connects to the wifi network, but does not perform at the expected wifi speed.

The IP addresses should be different from each other, otherwise you would experience an IP conflict. Each device on your network (including the router) should have its own IP address.

LG dongle anwf-100 will not connect to wireless router. It finds my ap which at the moment has no security. When I try to connect it says can't find gateway and gives me an ip address of 0.0.0.0.0

Did you configured your wireless modem to be an DHCP server and generate the ip automatically? See your modem configurations and try to use 801b only, 801g and 801n didn´t worked with me.

Dell latitude E4300 having wireless connection problems and disable and enablewifi i get 169.XX.XX.XX sometimes

The 169.254.x.x IP Address is known as an APIPA address:

http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/A/APIPA.html

In your situation, it is indicating that the system is not receiving an IP address assignment from the Router.

Troubleshooting steps:
  1. power off, then power on the router and the computer, see if the system gets a valid IP address.
  2. Right click the wireless connection, click Repair
  3. Reinstall the wireless driver
  4. try a different wireless network see if wireless works on another network

Can you get a different ip address for a laptop that connects wirelessly through an Airport Extreme router?

Sure all you have to do is go to ipcomfig re;ease your ip addresses and renew. Once you do this the router should assign a different ip address.

Let me know if you have any problems.

Belkin N router and linksys ip cam

You need to connect the camera directly to your computer and have it manually assign an IP Address on your computer so you could access the camera on the first hand. After that you need to range the IP Address of the camera accordingly to the IP Address of your network.

Camera Not Working Wirelessly

I think maybe the problem is that the cam has already been recognised and given an ip address when you connect via RJ45 cable, but when you try wirelessly, there is a replication of the ip address which is not allowed. Check your router to see what ip address was given to the cam and remove if neccasary so as to re new the cam ipaddress. I would turn off the encryption first to try and get it working, then turn on again.
