Hot water problem

I have a Bosch on demand hot water heater that is suppose to handle 2-3 functions (2-3 water outlets) at once. If someone is taking a shower and another person washes their hands with even minimal hot water the shower water gets cold. Any sugestion?

    Thank You
I will never purchase or recommend one of these units to anyone. They are very expensive and need adjusting (I can't find anyone who adjusts this unit ).Also if you have a water balancing fixture in your shower this unit does not well with it. NEXT TIME I'LL BUY A HOT WATER TANK!!!!!

Thanks for the info. Why a $1000.00 unit cannot not supply 2 faucets is beyond me. For what they do they are way overpriced.

Someone has not sized the system correctly. The water heater will heat a certain GPM a certain temperature rise. Most of those "generalizations" from the manufacturers are referencing the lowest of all the flow requirements like 2 lavatories. The truth is, don't use other fixtures while showering or get a bigger system. Lots of information related to sizing the tankless system at http://www.mechanicalengineeronline.com/Mini_Sites/Tankless_Water_Heaters_Ebook/Tankless_Water_Heaters.htm Have a good one. PS:Properly sized On-Demand water heaters are actually really good. Be prepared for the day your water heater quits.

Hi, if you have a symmons shower valve they make a replacement stem that will balance the amount of water going to your shower valve. I have delt with Bosch units for yrs and main problems that i run into is wrong installation, or the type of fixtures that that they are supplying, meaning that they pull tooo much water great when u shower but like you said when a person turnes on a sink it goes cold thats from too much water passing thru the heat exchanger. What unit do you have, 425hn will cause most likely that problem. If you have a 635esn you may not have your flame up highenough. let me know what u have for a unit. thx

On demand hot water heater gets cold for a short while during showers.

Check for crossover.
Bad single-handle faucet cartridge causes cold water to enter hot pipe, so hot never arrives and tankless does not run consistAntly

I have a Bosch GWH 425 HNO propane Tankless Water Heater which began intermittently exploding when demand for hot water occurs.

Call a qualified service tech immediately.
Gas explosion indicates dirty combustion parts, and gas is not fully igniting when tankless turns on the gas. So gas builds up and then explodes causing serious damage to tankless, and serious risk to homeowner.

Water takes 30 sec to cover 10m from heater to tap

body { background: #FFFFFF; margin: 0px; padding: 4px; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; } p { margin:0px; padding:0px; } .spwrap { background: transparent url(/wysiwyg_rte/misspell.gif) repeat-x scroll center bottom; } You are talking about length of time to get hot water from water heater. What diameter pipe are you talking about? What type of faucet do you have?
1/2" pipe has inside diameter of .54" and holds 1.2 gallons per 100 feet
10 meters is 32 feet and holds .4 gallons
Average faucet puts out 2 gallons per minute, so 30 seconds you should get 1 gallon of water.
Put a bucket under faucet and check amount of water flow.

Assuming you draw just hot water from the faucet, then 30 seconds is slow for receiving hot water.
If you have single-handle faucet and raise handle straight up in middle, then you are drawing half hot and half cold, so it would take 30 seconds for hot to arrive.

If hot water is slow, the problem might be crossover.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Crossover.html
or low water pressure due to clog in water line
http://waterheatertimer.org/Low-hot-water-pressure.html
Other problems could include clogged water filter, clogged water softener, defective pressure valve, and low water pressure.

I have model no. 45-550301 and it produces hot water for a moment or so then pops the reset off..............

Sounds like you may actually need to have the unit recalibrated by a Bosch Authorized Technician. Bosch Tankless units MUST be cinstalled and calibrated by a factory trained and certified technician as they are the only ones who have the proper tools for setting up the units.
If you did not have it installed by someone who is certified by Bosch, I would recommend that you call Bosch Service and get the name of someone who is.
I myself have a Bosch NG2700 unit and have never experienced any issues with it not working. Could be that the device is wired into a branch circuit of your home that is having problems or is underrated for the unit.

The heater should be plugged into an isolated 15amp minimum outlet.

Check the breaker/outlet, then call Bosch service next. The units have a 12 year warranty, so get it checked out. You may have to pay for the labor, but if they are certified and have the calibration unit, it should run you no more than a 1 hour call.

No hot water coming out. ignition comes on ,but no lighting of gas. There is gas in bottle and it's on as normal.Works one day , doesn't the next.I cannot remember if there was a pilot light before!

check for pilot but im sure that the pilot is on demand thats what makes these things so cool and inexpensive to operate. try having someone turn on the hot water while looking for ignition. if there is nothing it may be a relay. im not sure but if you open it up check for a 3 amp fuse its green. all the new furnaces with mother boards have a fuse. I am not really a heating guy but i have been looking into on demand systems and sat in a training session at the plumbing supply. never hurts to try and help.
if its not a fuse or the ingniter isnt functioning you may need to call a heating person who knows on demand or check Bosch on line maybe they have the trouble shooting guide if you dont.

sorry that all i can suggest hope it helps

Difficult to turn the water heater

step one... remove from wall
step two... throw in dumpster
step three... purchase and install a quality tankless water heater.

Rinnai, takagi, Noritz are the only brands I install now. Aquastar (Bosch) always had problems, then purchased by Bosch but never fixed the problems, just put their name on it and sold them at Lowes or home depot.

I have a Bosch GWH 425 HN Tankless Hot Water Heater...On 2/28/2010, it began intermittant exploding when demand for hot water occurred. Local technicians worked on the unit several times, changed and...

I have the same problem with the same model. The problem has been identified by a friend of mine, correctly, I think.
This is a very dangerous problem involving Bosch's much touted safety feature, ironically enough. IT IS THE FLAME SENSOR IN THE GAS VALVE. The flame sensor is supposed to confirm that the pilot has lighted BEFORE the main gas line sends gas to the main burners, after which the pilot shuts off. The pilot light is not coming on, the sensor that shouldn't let gas fto the main burners is failing and the main gas is flowing and ignighting from the spark that is supposed to light only the pilot in a big explosion.
This is the 2nd unit of this model that has failed. I think Bosch should do a recall

My Bosch on demand water heater is clogged. I cleaned the inlet line but seems to be inside the smaller copper tubing. HELP!

If you can access the pipe that is clogged, Poor some lime away into it . Let it sit and ad more as needed. the calcium will sofen and ca be flush out. Takes patience. Once you get some flow, fill the tubing with a descaling solution (hardware store) and let it sit. Pool acid works but must be thoroughly flushed out. be careful with acids, always wear gloves.
