Does the charge light come on? It could be the connection piece of it, they are made pretty flimsy..

If you know how to safely do this check the voltage on the computer side of the adapter for the proper voltage.. sounds like it's on it's last legs though.

SOURCE: Dell latitude D600 battery charge light flashing

You have a ground fault issue in the DC JACK.

There are escentially 4 circuits in the jack and one is not making contact.

1: Negative Charge circuit (outter ring)
2: Negative Run circuit (outter ring)
3 Positive (Inner Ring)
4: Signal (center pin)

I believe the negative charge circuit (outter ring) is not making contact internally. Typically what happens on that model DC Jack is the tension contact metal becomes fatigued, and does not touch the outter ring.

This could come from Heat causing early fatigue of the metal.
Or normal wear, the metal has simply worn out from regular insert/removal.

SOURCE: laptop won't turn on

The blinking orange battery light generally indicates that the battery isn't working properly, usually going out and not charging properly. In this case, since the adapter will not power the machine without the battery, and it should, I'm going to say that the adapter is going out and not getting the proper amount of power to the system. Try replacing the adapter. Be sure to replace it with a Dell replacement, the Targus brand universal adapters do not work well with Dell machines, and in most cases won't work at all.

I have a new e627 used only once before today. Battery connection was partially out and screen indicated low battery. After five minutes screen went black and now I cannot power up.

Maybe your battery is totally drained.

Try to connect the AC adaptor of your laptop and plug it to the wall outlet and let it charge for 3 hours or more. When you plug it on the wall socket, it won't show the laptop's led blinking since it was totally drained. But after 3 minutes or more, it will start to show the blinking led to indicate charging. When blinking stops led light disappears, it is fully charged and ready to use.

Remember: Do not use your laptop while it is plugged in to save your battery life. When at home, remove the battery while it is fully charged and plug the AC adaptor directly to the wall outlet. It will still work without the battery as long as it is plugged directly to the wall socket.

Battery charging issue

Check your mains adapter plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced.

If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard.
This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. I suggest you get a quote first.

200MBPS Advent powerline adaptors dropping connection

It is normally reccommended that the adaptor goes straight into the socket so check the faulty one to see if it does rather than being plugged into a power strip.

Hope this helps

Acer aspire 3680 laptop will not charge while plugged in wall

It appears that you have faulty laptop power connector socket.
This is why it appears to work sometimes when you plug the connector into the laptop in some direction.
To confirm this, wriggle the connector while you look at the charge light on the laptop, if it blinks as you wriggle it then the power socket is either faulty or just needs resoldering so it will make proper electrical contact.
You can get a compute techo to do this or you can do it yourself but it requires dismantling the laptop completely to get at this power socket.

Charging issue

It’s either the plug on the AC adaptor (might have a broken wire) or the laptop’s input jack that the adaptor plugs into. The input power jack is soldered onto the motherboard. Could also be a problem with the charging circuit on the motherboard (would need to replace motherboard to fix).

Wont turn on

Hi,

you have one of 3 things wrong here.

1:) the battery is dead, and needs to be replaced ( suggest e-bay china seller for cheapest )
2:) the AC adaptor or dc socket on the motherboard is Faulty.
3:) motherboard fault, regarding charging circuit board.

Go for the most cost effective option First. New Battery. Then AC Adaptor. Finally would be motherboard replacement.
