Line on documents run through ADF on Xerox DocuMate 515

Line appears on scanned documents, not on those created on the PC from a file.

Check if it is from the glass plate and ADF.
If only ADF check the small glass plate to the left of the big one.
Clean that and it should disappear

you probably have something on the scanning bulb when it goes through the feeder. The scanning bulb is directly to the left of where you use the flatbed. Clean that glass with a dry, clean cloth and you should be back in business.

SOURCE: Xerox 510 will not scan from ADF

If it is new, and not assuming there is a hardware problem with the scanner (some fault), might be a software problem. If the scanned image from the flabed is OK the drivers would be installed properly. You do not say which software you are using but when you have a "Professional" documentscanner and intend to use it for "production" scanning you need proper software also, To scan, to mix documents, rearrange pages, auto remove blank pages, deskew, produce small PDFs even when scanning color and so on. Look at PixEdit - it will do the job for you.

I would go to Xerox.com and look up their knowledge base. Here is a copy of data from their site related to this problem:

Symptom: Scanned images have poor image quality, are fuzzy, unclear, or hard to read.
Cause: There are several things that can lead to poor image quality including the scan settings, dirt on the scanner, and driver problems. Solution: Note: If you scan as a PDF file and your scans look fuzzy when viewed in PaperPort, try right clicking on the file and selecting "Open" to open them in Adobe Reader. If they display fine in Adobe Reader then there is nothing wrong with the scans, it is simply that they are not being displayed well in PaperPort.

The following solutions can help resolve poor scan quality.

Solution 1 - Adjust the scan settings

Try increasing the resolution of your scan. 300 dpi to 400 dpi should be clear for most images

  • If you are scanning in Black and White, try Grayscale or Color. Some images will not display correctly in Black and White
  • You can also try adjusting the brightness and contrast
  • Note: For information on adjusting your scan settings, refer to the user guide for your scanner
Solution 2 - Clean and Calibrate the scanner

Note: Calibration only applies to sheetfed scanners.

SOURCE: i need the drive gear for the adf on a xerox

Hello.

I am a Support Engineer with Xerox Scanners.

We do not make a scanner with the model number 636.

If you are referring to the DocuMate 632, the drive gear on the ADF roller is available in the roller replacement kit (attached to the ADF roller, not separately). You can order that kit here.

On the other hand, if you are referring to one of the gears in the ADF housing, the device will need to be sent in for service.

Hello.

I am a Support Engineer with Xerox Scanners.

There would have been an extra pad in the original box that the scanner came in. If you no longer have this pad, you can order the maintenance kit here. This kit will also include the necessary components to clean the feed rollers.

If the feed rollers are worn out, you will need to have the scanner serviced.

Your document must be in place/position to be scanned, faxed, etc.

Place document, then scan. ADF is your automatic document feeder. Used when copying/scanning multiple pages. Reload and try again.

it seems that the drivers did no install correctly.
-Go to the control panel -> Programs -> add/ remove programs. -Then uninstall Kofax VirtualReScan and restart the computer. -After the computer comes back on insert the installation disk and reinstall the drivers.

If the problem persists maybe your installation disk is corrupted, try to download the latest version from xerox and try again.

A line keeps showing up on the scans that's not on the documents...how do I delete the line that isn't on the original document but shows up about 1-2" in front left side of scan?


All it takes is a minute speck on the glass when using the ADF to cause lines on a copy.
THOUROUGHLY clean the glass including the thin piece to the left of the bed if there is one.
Spray glass cleaner on a link free cloth and wipe it clean

I am getting an error that says '' copy of prtection failure. There is no VRS file- import dongle connected.


You have a corrupted VRS setup - did you try to update the driver? The only way I could fix this problem was to uninstall all the scanner software (OneTouch, OmniPage, Driver and PaperPort) using the Control Panel, remove the \windows\Pixtran directory, run CCleaner's registry cleanup (might not be necessary) and reinstall the scanner software from the Xerox installation DVD. Took me the best part of one day to figure this out.
